I mean where is the theme? I guess that was the DVC of the past. No more Grand Californian’s,Wilderness Lodge’s, or Animal Kingdom’s.
I actually like all 3 movies mentioned. I'm also not opposed to touches of IP in DVC rooms. However, I don't feel these IPs belong in the Disneyland Hotel. Are you just not a fan of those movies specifically or did you just not want any movie-based themes besides the 2 mentioned?
Will you be able to use points from other DVC contracts to book VDH? I mean, I know not the resale ones. But ones purchased direct, can they be used at VDH?
Actually yeah. Disney mantra has been “refurb on the cheap”. As only the second CA DVC, it would have been nice to stay on par with a theme. And what exactly is the theme at VDH? I don’t see one. It’s at the original Disneyland Hotel. It’s basically a world landmark. Does it need more of a theme than Walt Disney?
And grandfathered resale!Any direct points will be able to stay at VDH if there is availability at the 7-month mark.
So the +/- $100M they spent on an entirely new tower wasn't enough? The theme is mid-century modern, to match the three existing towers (the ones that were built before WDW was even a thing, never mind DVC), and it blends in very well..Actually yeah. Disney mantra has been “refurb on the cheap”. As only the second CA DVC, it would have been nice to stay on par with a theme. And what exactly is the theme at VDH? I don’t see one.
Contracts aren’t grandfathered correct, just if you bought it before a date? And grandfathered resale!
My guide couldn't help me last December when I wanted to add on direct at BRV. Because I live in So Cal, and even though the resort ownership is in Florida, the guide has to have a California real estate license now. He had to hand me off to a California-based guide. All of the guides have been taking their California licensing tests. When they started sales for PVB, they encountered many legal problems with various states. They had different dates for when they could legally talk about PVB sales to people who were in different states. Florida and some others were allowing sales. Pretty sure California was one of the last ones they could discuss and sell PVB contracts in. Some (not many) posted they flew to Florida to be able to buy. From what I remember, it was almost 2 months after initial PVB sales started in Florida before California allowed sales.
Since VDH is located in California,I would hope they seems plausible they don’t start sales before California approves sales associates in CA to discuss and sell to anyone in California.
As with any DVC that is part of a resort complex, the theme matches the resort. Disneyland Hotel doesn't have a themed environment, it was the original Disney resort and they didn't do that back then. Mid-century modern is the closest you might get, but it's not really too much of a theme, that's more the aesthetic. So I don't think a theme would be expected at this DVC, it wouldn't be part of the Disneyland Hotel then.Actually yeah. Disney mantra has been “refurb on the cheap”. As only the second CA DVC, it would have been nice to stay on par with a theme. And what exactly is the theme at VDH? I don’t see one.
Any resale contracts purchase prior to the most recent restrictions put in place in Jan 2019 can book at the new resorts (at least so far). Anything purchase after that date can only book at the original 14 resorts. We have three resale contracts purchase prior to Jan 2019 that we can use anywhere (incl riviera) and two after Jan 2019 that we cannot.Contracts aren’t grandfathered correct, just if you bought it before a date?
Purple. And what exactly is the theme at VDH? I don’t see one.
Yeah I'm with you, don't forget the dashes of pink and teal.Purple.
I agree with you.I mean where is the theme? I guess that was the DVC of the past. No more Grand Californian’s,Wilderness Lodge’s, or Animal Kingdom’s.
I loved that episode of “Behind the Attraction”. The Walt Disney family didn’t even own or operate the hotel their friends did for many years until they later generation sold it back to the WDC. I love all the Disney IP touches it doesn’t matter if it’s from when Walt was alive or not. VGC has Pinocchio themed bathrooms and Bambi touches too, not sure they really fit together either but it’s a beloved hotel too.As with any DVC that is part of a resort complex, the theme matches the resort. There's a pretty good episode of "Behind the Attraction" on Disney+ about the Disneyland Hotel and its history that I would recommend you watch if interested to learn more. It's a beloved property!
Yes, it's not themed. Just note: it's not meant to be since the Disneyland Hotel itself is not themed.I agree with you.
AKV rooms are themed: the colour scheme, the dark carved furniture, the light fixtures. Everything participates in the theme, nothing screams "Disney" at you.
If you walk around Galaxy Edge, you won't find white walls with giant posters of Rey and Palpatine. But an environment with so many small details that make you feel like that it a real lived place.
Those are very nice rooms and I cannot wait to book there, I hope they're easier to get at 7 months. But they're not themed. Slapping a giant Princess picture on your face is not theme, it's decoration.
I think the rooms look very nice. Not a fan of the themed rooms... May be time to pivot to another VGC contract. Couldn't we have just stuck to mild sleeping beauty with a focus on the castle? Or at worst stop at fantasia? Why did they feel the need to include Tiana at every level and for every tower studio to be jungle book? And the grand villa with 3 (or more??) IPs?
My excitement for this project died in a hurry and I think they've lost my family as buyers on it.
Yeah, and the studios are for 4 people only it seemsThe resort is definitely studio heavy. High competition for the 19-1 bedroom and 20-2 bedrooms with larger families and prefers the space, and only 2 GV.
Yeah owning guarantees, unfortunately we will only be visiting DCA maybe once every 4-5 yrs. We're from the East Coast, we own 2 right now. Waiting for Poly tower to add.Yeah, and the studios are good 4 people only it seems
Gonna need to own there if you want the 1BRs+ / options for a 5th sleeper
