It’s California- I am surprised it’s not 10 since it covers labor costs$9.06 MF is steep for a tower add on at an existing property... I was thinking it would be $7.50 tops...
Why would they make so many small things to turn people away. I know there will be a rush at first, but they are already struggling getting the current resorts sold. If I was told, "Here, we have a resort that is more than our other resorts being sold and you have to pay a tax each time you stay here and if you bring a car, you get an additional charge, all this plus our maintainence fees start at $9 a point, how many points do you want to start with today?" Me- None, thank you how about the Grand Californian resale?Plus we need to pay tax and parking? My wallet just ran away
With all these fees and high prices (barring amazing incentives), is it just cheaper to stay on the hotel side? I paid about 600 a night over busy week/spring break for DLH. Hotel side does have its own perks of housekeeping, a tad closer, and more flexible cancellation/planning options. Why would they make so many small things to turn people away. Anybody know why VGC and VDH would have such different costs per point for the transient tax?VGC has the transient tax as well. It’s just bundled into dues. Works out to roughly $0.50 per point. So dues at VGC would be $0.50 lower if they did it this way instead.
This change is good for people who rent points out.

I'd love to know the answer to this question as well. How is it possible that VDH tax could be greater than 5 times what it costs at VGC? Makes no sense.Anybody know why VGC and VDH would have such different costs per point for the transient tax?
I could have gotten over the 230/pp and the higher maintenance fees but the 2.73pp transient tax on top of all of that was a dealbreaker for us.
Until I see the Disneyland hotel one in writing on a document from Disney, I don’t think it needs too much thoughtAnybody know why VGC and VDH would have such different costs per point for the transient tax?

As someone who has looked at hotel rates for on property Disneyland hotels (and off property ones too) a lot over the past couple years, I would say that the studio rates estimated by @AstroBlasters are at least a couple hundred a night below average for low season, high season is still probably below what I've seen Disney charge on busy weekends and last minute rates-- I think what I'm saying is that if the economy and travel demand remains strong, even with all the extra fees, you're still getting a pretty decent discount to booking at the Disneyland Hotel for studios and an even bigger discount for 1 bedrooms (I never look at 2 bedrooms, but I'd presume it's true as well). On the other hand, if the economy or Anaheim tourism crashes, you could see DL hotel rooms at/below 300 with some regularity, especially with Disney's various Magic Key/local resident promotions. If I had high convinction that DL was going to build out all the proposed areas around the Disneyland hotel, I would probably buy (especially with an incentive)-- but for the moment I'd prefer to pay the same to be at Grand Californian resale.Ok, here is how I look at the numbers:
$230pp / 50 years = $ 4.6pp
$4,66pp+ 9.05 mf’s+ $2.73 tax = $16.33pp
