VDH Opening

I just don't get how a duo studio can be going for over $800 a night. Should be on main street with a balcony for that price. They're out of their minds with this place, and I think they're going to struggle to sell it after the initial excitement dies down.

The whole point isn’t to pay rack rate with DVC. I am missing the point of everyone’s visceral reaction. We don’t have points charts. If a Duo Studio was priced at cash rates of 200, why would that strengthen anyone’s desire to own?

This post from @Wedgeout indicates otherwise:

And I'd be surprised if there aren't at least 2 categories for Duos as a few have balconies/patios and the rest do not. And they're breaking the balcony/patio Deluxe Studios out from the rest.

Will be very interesting to see what's posted online tomorrow.

That creates a very interesting points spread problem. Maybe one could make a very weak argument the Duo Garden Studios are so limited they deserve to be priced over a standard studio, but I also would argue the extra space/size trumps a view. There isn't a lot of wiggle room in RIV's point chart to fit all the different views sub-regular studios.

Are the Standard Duo Studios priced aspirationally cheaply to sell the product? Or the standard studios horrendously expensive to create more breathing room?

I don't think they will struggle at all. Tons of people on the west coast as well as all the rich people along the Asian pacific rim are ready to pounce.

I’m all for some hard to get unique categories. I love the thrill of getting an akv value and then be assigned a savanna view. Riviera tower studios go quick and hard to get them or standard view unless you own. Making the standard studios a considerable point savings over preferred will encourage ownership. Having just a few of the garden views will be a category where you need to own to get.

They did not offer the Guaranteed Week for the Tower at Riviera…
Can‘t imagine walking success but will probably try!
I did book Halloween for a duo studio yesterday !

I saw someone post somewhere that rates for MK holders were more than yesterday is that true?

I love the design. I would rather wait and see if they release points before having to pay this amount of money. When looking at the numbers, it is below what the VGC rash rates if they were to place them on the website. I looked for my dates and the 1 bedroom preferred is around the price of a 1 bedroom at Grand Cal hotel side, but with VDH you get a kitchen. So maybe it is not as high as we are anticipating

We have a Grand Cal stay in December as part of our Adventures by Disney trip. Wanted to add one more night to the trip and figured we could try out VDH in a Duo studio, but when I try to book it says this:

Why won't it let me add to my cart? Is it just me?
