VDH Opening

This is a random question but let’s say that this month, DVC members can start using points to book a stay at the new Disneyland Tower. It opens in September. VGC is my home resort. How do they give preference to those who have the new tower as their home resort if it opens in September (since it’s not 11 months out)?
Last year, VGF owners had a period of a couple of weeks when only they could make reservations. VDH will probably do something like that.

The Grand Californian opened on 9/23/09, points went on sale on 3/26/09 (181 days before opening). Using that timing, VDH points would go on sale on 3/31. Which would give them almost 3 weeks to keep releasing info bit by bit.

I know this has been said before in different forums but man, when this thing opens, all of the dining options at DLH is gonna get slammed! Tangaroa Terrace, Trader's Sams, Goofy's Kitchen. There's gonna be no room anywhere! Heck, it might impact GCH restaurants too. Portos and Din Tai Fung in DTD better be open by the time VDH opens!

I honestly don't think we'll be able to book with points on opening day. I think they'll milk cash out of everyone as much as they can for the Halloween and Christmas season first. DLH and GCH are always booked to capacity from October thru New Year's... Why would they give us access via points when they can add 350 rooms for a cash stay and also avoid doling out 2023 UY points?

The delay-until-December angle is so they don't have to dole out 2022 points. And it's an interesting thought--they basically did it with Riviera opening mid-December so I wouldn't be particularly surprised.

There will not be any 2022 UY points even if they sell with a September opening. The resort didn’t exist in 2022 so the first set will be 2023 for everyone, just like VGF gave 2022 points only, regardless of UY.

They would then prorate from date of opening to end of year for dues, or first set of points. Whichever is greater.

If I understood correctly from my guide, only California licensed guides can sell to Californians and they are short on those and training like 15 more.
It’s why I switched my guide to one who works out of Grand Cali office. It’s nice to see an actual DVC guide inside DCA now too. But of course no one has any new info to offer up.

Those restaurants are about 1-1.5 years away from completion. They haven't even started construction on them yet.

So if the points begin with September 2023, and if I were to want a June UY, would I get the full 2023 points?
