Are there VCR's to rent or request for free at the resorts? If not, can you bring one from home and hook it up to there tv? If yes, can you still get all the channels, like the WDW channel?

To my knowledge only the DVC one or more BR villas have VCR's in the rooms. I've heard that some of the concierge resorts have VCR's to lend to concierge guests, although I've never requested one. Otherwise, you'll need to bring your own. I can't help you with the hookup. And don't even think about asking me how to program the thing.

The Fort Wilderness Cabins have VCR's in the living room and Disney movies are available to rent at the Meadow Trading Post :)

The only other Disney resorts I have stayed at are the Wilderness Lodge and the Contemporary and neither had VRC's in the room.

Can't be 100% sure about every resort, but the CBR and several others have new Sony's that have the yellow/red/black jacks for video right on the front of the set. We plugged a portable DVD and our DV camcorder in there daily.

Note: If you're interested in video because the kids like 24/7 cartoon entertainment, the Disney Channel and Toon Disney are broadcast all day and all night for that purpose. A Bug's Life and Toy Story were playing last week most times we turned on the TV.

In the one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and grand villas at the DVC resorts, there were VCRs in the living room. In some of the suites that I have stayed in but not all, there were VCRs in the parlor rooms. At the AKL, neither suite (one- or two-bedroom) that I stayed in had VCRs. As a matter of fact, over the holidays I had to request a VCR for my suite. The AKL set this up for me and I was charged somewhere in the area of $35 for the use of the VCR for two nights. I forget what the daily rate was, but I do remember that it was not that much more money to rent it for a longer period of time (I think for one night it would have cost me $30, but for two nights it was $35, or something like that).

We usually just bring a VCR from home. Depending on the resort, it can be tricky getting it hooked up (the worst has to be reaching the electrical plug at All-Stars - directly behind the cabinet - and of course I never think to bring an extension).

You still get all the channels, provided of course the VCR tuner is programmed to recieve them (I always have to automatically reprogram the tuner on my JVC to display all available channels in WDW).

Like CDavid just mentioned it can be hard to get access to the rear of some of the sets. Using the front RCA jacks works much better. I bring one along every trip now because WDW cable TV is the worst I have ever seen. At the All Stars you need a 6-7 foot RCA cable set and a extension cord. I take a universal remote along that is set up for WDW sets.
I have never heard about rentals available on property but remember talking to someone that rented one local at a video store.

Ok. I called the Caribbean Beach and was told that they do not have vcr's and you cannot hook your own up to their tv. Then I called again and was told that you could bring your own. Which is it???
  :( :(

I can tell you with 100% certainty that the CBR features Sony TV's with input jacks on the front that allow any VCR, DVD or Camcorder to be hooked up.

The challenge will be getting the power to the VCR. Bring an extension cord.
