VB to Reopen Oct. 9

Sept. 28. Just got off phone with MS and Vero Beach is suppose to reopen Oct. 9. pending any unforseen problems.

I am certain you are telling us exactly what MS told you, but the problem is there have been a variety of reports about this.

Someone posted this on another thread.

"I notice this morning on the disneyworld.com site that guests with ressies at Vero through October 31 are being asked to cancel, move, or rebook. The site also says that guests are being notified."

There seems to be some discrepancies about when Vero is going to reopen!

I was one of those contacted by MS and they told me that they planned on being open again on the 9th since we have ressies to stay there on the 12th

When you refer to MS contacting you, I am assuming that you are talking about DVC member services and that they are the official contact for DVC reservations. We have reservations for Thanksgiving week and since it is still a ways off I do not want to call and bug them when they are already overloaded with calls for those who are leaving much sooner than we are so any information from those who have earlier ressies is very much appreciated.

Yes I am talking about DVC member services. We have reservations at Sartoga for five days and Vero Beach for two days. We leave Oct. 6. Member Services told me that Vero Beach is suppose to be open on Oct. 9. If it is not this will be one UPSET DVC Member.

I hope it's true...for those who plan to visit and for the many CMs who probably need to get back to work . I'm actually VERY surprised if this is the case, as I thought Vero had taken a really hard hit during Jeanne. There's tons of different info going around...so I truly hope for everyones' sake that this is the final word and things can be repaired and ready for guests that quickly. Thanks for posting the info!

Thanks for answering my question. I do hope for your sake that you will not be disappointed and I wouldn't blame you for being upset. We all have to understand the devastation that Florida has experienced and if it means cancelling a vacation that would be disappointing, but the important thing is the need for accurate information so that you can adjust your plans if need be.
Keep us posted when you return on the condition of Vero.
I am preparing myself for the disappointment of seeing everything torn up and destroyed. Vero is such a wonderful resort, I hope that it can be restored quickly. But we also have to feel for the residents and employees.

Well, it would be great if VB re-opens again on 10/9 since we have reservations there starting 10/9 after our 10/2 Magic cruise. I will wait until Thursday to call MS and get the latest info.

I feel so bad for everyone out in Florida, especially around Vero as we feel we know the area. My heart goes out to everyone living there, in particular the wonderful CM's.

I too will be disappointed about having to cancel our VB visit (8th-11th Oct), my DD and DM haved planned on so much fun together and are pretty sad. But, we have a home here in the UK that is warm (not too warm), dry and comfortable.

I am trying to decide where to book (Mum wants a beach visit at the start of her first vacation in the US) for the 3 days prior to BCV. We did this already after Frances but then cancelled when VB reopened.......any ideas?

We'll miss Vero if we can't visit, but will keep everyone in ours thoughts and prayers.

According to Disney's own webpage guests at Vero with arrivals through 10/31 are being contacted now to rebook or cancel.

Well it sure does say those with reservations for arrivals through October 31st should contact the resort. Why then would MS tell someone that they can still arrive on October 12th. Could it be that parts of the resort are still open?

My bet is that DVC is starting the cancellation process with the closest dates. As time goes by, I think you may see the cancellation dates moving further toward the projected date of October 31st.
Of course, that's only a guess.

The resort actually opened before schedule following the Frances closure.

Just talked with MS. Vero will indeed be closed until 10/31/04, not 10/9 or 10/2 as stated earlier this morning to members including myself.
