VB roof work?

Got a letter from DVC that roof work on the Inn will be going on while we're there. Has anyone been recently? Is it a mess or easily ignorable? We're staying in the Inn, too. I won't cancel, but just wondering how extensive it is that they would send me a letter.

I was wondering if it would be going on when we are there. What were the dates listed on your letter? If you don't mind me asking.

No specific dates, just that we would see construction trucks, etc. during our stay. We are going over Memorial Day week.

The work has already started....KWeaver (I think) had written a thread recently that there was currently scaffolding around Shutter's and upwards and that it had just began. I'll search back a page or 2 and see if I can find the thread I read

I called the other day to VB guest services to get some info on fishing. The woman was so darn nice! She pulled up our three Inn rooms to see if they were linked together. Never once did she mention us having to be moved or the roof work.

I hope all will be OK! We're taking the in-laws.

We'll be there a week from Wednesday...keeping my fingers crossed that we won't be moved from our Inn Room. I'm thinking we may have heard by now...but who knows?

Either way....it will be fine. But I was really looking forward to those ocean views.

Shan - I don't know if they are actually moving people from those rooms??? hopefully you've seen the pics so you have an idea of what it looks like. I'd definitely call back and find out what the scoop is. The white screening is going to cut out most of the ocean view. I'd be more worried about the noise. The work is supposed to continue til late summer.

Maybe you'll get a nice upgrade?

It was easy for us to ignore for the most part...we walked by it on the way to the pool...other than that we really didn't think about it. I think you will still have a GREAT time! Enjoy it!

When I called to inquire about the roof work the CM stated the work would be done in 'zones' and that they would not have guests staying in rooms in that zone. So there will be no scafolding in front of the room. I tried to ask if they were going to move some people to different room types during the reconstruction but I don't think she understood my question. There was one post here that someone got moved to a one bedroom.

If you do call, let me know what you find out. My DH and I are escaping the kids and going to Vero alone. I hope the roof work doesn't interfer with all the nothing we will be doing. We will be there May 18th and 19th, then one day at the Poly, so will be able to report back the details. I'm looking forward to trying out Vero. I may come back wanting Vero ponts! Those beach cottages look very sweet!

Well this is a major bummer.

I totally understand why this needs to be done and that it needs to be done during someones vacation. I am just not sure if I want to be there while this is happening. Maybe we will switch and spend a few more days at WDW instead. Gonna have to go talk to DH about it now.
