On DVC's website is says for VB -

Continue your family's Disney tradition with our special Magical Beginnings* offer. Save $15 per Vacation Point and enjoy special financing for qualified buyers when you purchase an additional ownership interest represented by 50 Vacation Points or more.

So you only have to buy 50 points at $69 and did I not hear someone say they are letting you keep those points, too?!? What is the special financing they are referring to? How do they handle closing costs? Has anyone called on this?

Does this seem like a good enough to deal to add on just for those points? I know the dues are more...
Do you have to have the same use year as your other resort contract? Do they add your payments into your existing monthly payments, the same with dues?

I have BCV. How quickly I forget... What were the restrictions on MB for add ons there?

Has DVC had deals like this before? I wonder if they'll offer anything special for add ons when SSR starts selling?

Thanks!

Hi, Shan. I don't think you get to keep the points. I think that is a seperate promotion for $10 off the price. I too am curious about the 'special financing'.

I would think it would take about 10 years for the increased cost of dues to surpass the savings on purchase price. That is, if VB fees stay consistently higher than the rest. Personally, we added our Vero points to specifically use for the 11 month window at VB, not because of price.

Your use year must be the same, unless you buy a new master contract of at least 150 points.

I have six contracts, and all the payments are lumped together (one for dues, and one for mortgage).

Good luck....

As of 6/12/03 -

Called guide. Here's the scoop with the add ons-
BCV -
MB $10 off per point , min of 100 points, lose points
VB -
MB $15 off per point, min of 50 points, lose points
OR
MB $10 off per point, min of 50 points, keep points

25 min to add on, 50 to finance
must have same use year

Looking at the options... with VB the $10 and keep points seems like a better deal, it is only a difference of $250. If you were to rent at $10 per point it would be $500.

Now as far as adding on with VB instead of BCV, yes I'd save $500, but the dues are higher. It will equal out at 25 years, leaving 13 years paying higher dues. I would think VB has the possibility of always having higher dues cause a beach resort would require much more money for upkeep. Maybe I'm wrong, but looking at the two options I think I'm best adding on at my home resort of BCV and keeping things easy. Of course, I would have to talk dh into adding. Tough, since I just talked him into buying! :p :p :p

QUESTION I forgot to ask guide - Of an add on of 25 points do we have to pay closing costs or do they?

Thanks!

OH! Special financing at VB?!? Nothing different. He said it was the lower rate of 9.75, something we already have.

Shan, 25 years sure sounds pretty good (thanx for doing the math).

DVC always pays closing. Perhaps that is one reason the minimum purchase is 25 points.

I don't think there is any September use year left at VB, or I would be tempted to add more VB points.

Remember-- As more and more WDW DVC resorts are built, VB and HH will be harder and harder to book at the 7 month window. We love VB, and have points there for that reason.

Good luck....

Maistre Gracey is correct, Sept use yr is sold out. That is our use yr also.Thats why we added on an extra 100 pts at VB 3 months ago, when Sept use yr was still available. ;)
