I just sent you a paypal payment and PMd my info. I'm fine with whatever you all decide to do with future swappers - love the idea that everyone would donate $10- $15 to the charity on an honor system- that way we widen the circle of people who benefit!! I think the convenience is well worth that. I may be adding a boogie board to the swap when I get there - but only if I find one DNeph wants when we stop for water, so I won't commit beforehand - I'll post when I get there if I add one. Thanks also for the info on the turtle walks - that is a top priority for us!

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has any additional information about: Discovery Scuba? We visited last year and loved Vero. We'll be visiting again the end of this month. My 12 year old son is interested in scuba. Is he old enough to do this, how long is the activity, and what's involved? Thanks for any info!!!

My dd was 12 last year and was able to do the scuba lessons. They are in the pool. Gear is provided. It seems it lasted about two hours. They had training on use of the equipment and did some basic scuba lessons. She enjoyed it. She also has done the surf lessons and really enjoyed that too.

We will be there June 4-8 with ds 9 and dd 13 if anyone else is joining with kiddos those ages! (We'll be at WDW May 31-June 4).

Do they have a refillable mug at VEro and if so, is it like at HH where you buy the mug and all refills are free, or like at BWV where you have to pay a reduced amount each time? Where can you fill it up?

How much is the mini golf for DVC members?

How much is it to rent tennis rackets/courts? Can you walk there or do you need to go by bike/car? What exactly is over the other side of the tunnel?!!

Is there anywhere close by we can see manatees?

How far away are Mr Manatee and Ocean Grill restaurants? Which is the better?

Do you need to make reservations for breakfast (non-character) and dinner at the resort restaurants?

I think that's it!!! ha! ha! Would love to see some more photos to get me in the mood!

There are mugs, refills are free. You can fill it up at the bar/CS restaurant - like at HHI
How much is the mini golf for DVC members?
1.00 equipment rental for members (5.00 for length of stay rental) I believe Thursdays are free for members.

There's a rental price list in the FAQ. The courts are within the resort.

We did not find reservations necessary for regular dining. You can pre-order breakfast from room service. It's really, really nice and not that expensive - it's a must do at least once, IMHO.

I agree! Hopefully we'll start getting lots of pictures as people start returning from their 07 trips!!!!!!!!! Maybe we'll even get a live report now that there's internet access!

Yes, two chairs and an umbrella. There are two swaps running consecutively, and each swap has two chairs and an umbrella.

Is it still possible to join the chair swap for 6/8-13?

Since there are so many posts, I need to catch up on how this works.....

We bought the kids some vacation clothes today and seeing the beach chairs @ Academy reminded me to check out the boards!! Of course, DD & DS wanted boogie boards but I told them to hang on and we'll check out Walmart on our way from Orlando to VB.

The tunnel

runs under the highway from the ocean side of the resort to the (other) side.

The other side has a large pond with fountain

The basketball and tennis courts are over there along with picnic tables and at least one BBQ grill. There is a walk/bike trail (Jungle Trail) that runs from there to Pelican Island Refuge (8 miles I think). CM parking is also over there. It only takes a minute or two to get from one side to the other.

As far as reservations for the restaurants I think it is all in the timing and how patient you feel. I have never seen a line of people waiting, but I'm sure there are times when there is some wait. I would say 15 mins max wait. DW and I are not really restaurant people, so we'll sometimes order carry-out and take it back to our room or to the pool area. They don't advertise carry-out, but they don't ever seem to mind when we ask for it.

We have not been here http://www.manateecenter.com, but I have read some positive posts about this center.

For those who need to know - when I called to make res. I was told the dress code is casual, the only dress not permitted are bathing suits without cover-ups. Thanks again for the chair swap work, the chairs and umbrella look great!

It's white plastic and 'screws' into the sand, then the umbrella is screwed into it - keeps the umbrella from flying down the beach if a wind gust comes along 18 days and counting . . .
