We've had a few changes to the swap list. Thanks to everyone that has already sent their payment. I am feeling confident that enough swappers are committed to make sure the cost of setting up the swap will be covered. At this point, any additional swappers will be asked to donate the amount of the swap to firstgiving http://www.firstgiving.com/disneyfans - this way we can all both enjoy the swap and know that, in some small way, we are helping make Disney possible for critically ill children.

I know this is Florida, so a nice golf course is probably a given, but I was wondering if there is a course close by that's public and not too expensive.

We may be coming down at the beginning of November and would like to play a round or two.

Thanks for this great thread!:goodvibes

Don't recall who posted that you could now book dining at VB 180 days out, but whoever you are Thanks! :thumbsup2

Just made ADR's for brunch on Sunday, July 22nd  . Got the 2:20 PM seating (don't want to be having those adult brunch drinks too too early :rotfl: ).

Maybe I'll see one of you there pirate:

How much was this? I wouldn't mind getting one myself. I am concerned that we don't have these in Ohio... :o)
It's called a 'sand grabber' and it was just $11.49. If you google sand grabber you can find them on line - most are powder coated metal - the one I got at KMart was plastic. I've had the metal ones for years and they work great, too - got the plastic one for VB as I'm shipping it down with DNephs goodies and it will be a bit lighter.

chickie,

Sandridge or something like that is decent. Dh plays the public course here in Sebastian a lot because it's right down the street. He says it's okay.

The resort may be able to get you into one of the private courses as a guest. I would ask at the front desk. Dh says that Indian River Club is nice.

Hope this helps.

We have mini golfed the last few days at MIL has been at Vero for a few weeks. They aren't charging for mini golf right now as they are working on the course. It's normally not very much but even better when it's free.

Today was a great day to be on the beach!

If anyone is interested in Sea Turtle Walks you can book them now (started taking bookings for June on May 15) for June and starting on June 15 for July through Sebastian Inlet State Park by calling 321-984-4852. I was able to book this for us for when we ar e there in June!!! There is no cost for this and it I was told that it is only 5 miles north of the resort. The gentleman I spoke with when I called said they do these walks every night of the week except for Mon. in June. Sea turtles facinate me and I was very excited to get this booked for us and I hope we actually get to see a turtle "nesting" the night we go!
Cheryl

I booked the turtle walk as well. We did this back in 2003 also at Sebastian Inlet, but didn't see any turtles. When I called this time (hopefully second time's the charm!) Ranger Terry (who does the turtle walks) said there is a 75% chance of seeing them.

Can we get in on the chair swap too? We will be on our first Vero trip October 5 to 8. How does it work? How do we get the chairs, and where do they store them for the next guest? Does the resort mind doing this? How much do we owe, and who do we pay?
THANKS, DISers are really the best! :)

October 5-8 is already taken on both of our swaps, but if a spot becomes avaliable, I'll send you info. :thumbsup2 If there's enough interest between now and then, you all could always organize a third swap group. I'll be happy to let you know how we did it!

That's okay, it's a great idea though. Let me know if you get more interest...thanks!

Can anyone tell me if Vero Beach has life vests available for use at the pools? If not, we need to stop on the way there and pick up a couple. I tried a search here, but could not find any info.

Thanks so much!

I just asked this question a couple days ago and someone responded that they do provide life vests

I saw a mention of "Dining With Animals" at Sonyas @ VB this summer and called for more information. Here's the info so far (edited because I got a return call with complete information)

Cost - 45$ per person, tip not included. 10$ of the price goes towoard the conservation fund. There is no child menu or child price, this is only for ages 10 and up. The menu is very "adult" - and I doubt many 10 year olds would like it. This seems to be clearly geared for couples, not for families.

Limited to 20 patrons for an intimate dining experience.

Wednesday nights, there is a special menu. You can call ahead for each week's menu. A specialist from Animal Kingdom will be present to talk about sea turtles, but there is NOT a beach walk.

DDE can not be applied to this experience.

Yes they do! My DD4 used one to 'swim' with us last spring.

OK, all these beautiful photos and reports about VB have us hooked. it's the only DVC resort we haven't tried. We are now spending part of our summer vacation there. Here's hoping for good weather.

We'll be there Thurs July 5-Sun july 8. Can we hop on to one of the beach chair swaps?? I'm sure my kids won't let me sit down, but it's worth a shot!

Let me know what to do!

Hey all... I'm back :grouphug: We thought we were going to have to cancel our Vero trip but it is back on (i am so glad I didn't cancel the ressie;) ) DH can have the time off work after all :yay: . So can we please, please get back on the Chair swap for Sept 19-21:love: Let me know what I need to do

thanks

Hi, starbox, can you tell me where you heard about this and who you called for the additional info? Thanks!

kelliblue and jennypenny - I'll double check the dates and PM you about the swap.

MrsNick - Dining With Animals is mentioned briefly in the new Vacation Magic. I called the number from the article - I believe it was the direct resort number. It sounds like a nice couples activity!

Did u all get the Vacation Magic book today ? WOW ! Check out the photo taken at VB on the last page (pg 30). Really awesome shot !!!! Why couldn't we have seen this when we were there ?!
