Vanity Plates - Sometimes I wonder why someone would pay extra

Best one I ever saw was on a White VW Rabbit with the plate ML8 ML8 (I'm Late, I'm Late)

That is fantastic!!! :worship: I guess it is just another fun way to personalize your vehicle. It is kind of asking why people put stickers all over the back windows, have certain seat covers, or random things on the dashboard. I have a little disney girl (me because I am short-lol) and a disney dog on the back. I also have a plastic alligator on my dash that is from an inside joke. I might have to steal the "ML8 ML8" tag when my Ham Radio tag needs to be replaced.

They are just plain fun! Anyone have anymore great Disney ones???

Mine is DZZYLND.

I swear, all of the other ways of spelling Disneyland were taken. I tried for weeks and that's the best I could do.

My car is BRIGHT red. I dislike regular bumper stickers so I have a white outline of Jessica Rabbit with the "I'm not bad, I just drive that way!" sticker on the back window and a Mac Apple on the side window.

Then, on that shelf thingie above the back seat, I have a bobble-head Pluto, and a stuffed Ursula doll and a pink Flamingo from Fantasia.

For some reason, my husband refuses to drive my car. :confused3

just as a public service announcement...

items on the rear deck can become deadly projectiles in an accident, especially in a head on collision, the car stops and those items fly forward at the speed the car was travelling prior to the collision...

I saw one the other day: 1B4IGO I guess the guy hangs out in a bar! LOL.

Here in Ct, you pay extra when you first get the plate ($90 I think!) but you don't ever pay more again. My DH has had a vanity plate on his car since he got it at age 17 (25 years ago), so that $90 was no huge investment.

DH and I saw a fancy shmancy Hummer(original...not H2 or H3) that has a custom plate of "I BUY"---we found it quite fitting...:sad2:

I was behind a mini-van full of kids one day. I saw the personalized plate but it took me a second to figure it out. Can you get it?

It was: PB4UGO

Highlight for translation: Pee before you go!

Still my all time favorite plate !:rotfl::rotfl2:

In NH vanity plates are FREE so there are a lot of stupid ones I see all the time, since I live on the border. SOme are pretty funny!

Vanity plates in NH are NOT FREE
from NH.gov
Fee: Registration fee plus $25.00 Initial Plate fee, plus $8.00 reflectorized plate fee. There is an additional charge of $30.00 for Conservation Plates.

That being said, NH does have a very high rate of vanity plates ::yes::

I saw on one a brand new Ford Navigator the other day, "IWASTE". :lmao:

Good thing they are all stuffed!

I used to pay $45 a year to have DZNEMAGK, but then the novelty wore off, and I couldn't see spending the money like that, so I dropped it.

I had to pay initially for my vanity plates, but the renewal every 2 years is the same as regular plates. When I was 9 or 10 years old, I said that someday I'd have DURAN 2 on my car (I've been a Duran Duran fan since 1981, and that's how the magazines always wrote their name). Finally got it!

My friend used to have a plate that said "Bird Flu." :rotfl: I'm trying to convince him to get a "Swine Flu" one. So far, no dice. :sad2:

My dad had my name on his plates when I was little. They are expensive where I live though and I just can't rationalize paying for them.

We have vanity (our initials) specialized (Celebrate Children) plates, so our registration is $110 each year. :)

a stuffed bobblehead..??

at highway speeds a stuffed animal can be deadly..

Ok... back to vanity plates.

A local hummer says "EATAPZZA" and he delivers pizza in it. I hope he owns the shop, what a waste on gas. We've also seen "CUTHER" and "ISU4U".

We have our initials on a Sea Turtle Tag and we are getting ready to get a Soccer Tag with BLU PER for our new Mini...it is the cars name, LOL.

We have the following Disney vanity plates:

WDW4US
WDW4US2
NO CAPES (What can I say - I love Edna Mode!)

I have a non-Disney vanity plate that I have had since 1984 which is a play on my maiden name: LISALY.

It has always been on whatever sports car I own at the time (currently on our 30th anniversary Camaro Z28).

In Florida you only pay extra when you first buy the plate. Registration is the same as non-vanity every year after that.

I have had vanity plates since I was 16, I'm 41 now.
The current one I have says that I am sassy, becuase I am:rotfl2:

I have had several over the years. What is funny is that regular plates aren['t really that less now. And there are so many different "scenes or logos now.

I would never have my name on a plate, I wouldn't want just anyone to know my name or my kid's name.

Here in Va. say you buy a plate , next year you have to pay the same amount, DMV will get you any way they can. and we used to have 2 stickers on our plates month and year of expiration, now we just get 2 year stickers unless our month sticker has fallen off or whatever.
if we go in person to renew plates, we have to pay a fee just to have a person wait on us, but we can do a lot of stuff online.
