Vanity Plates - Sometimes I wonder why someone would pay extra

Today I saw a plate WLKTHSWA which I am assuming is Walk This Way. Huh?Why would you pay extra money to have that as a plate.

Any others that make you say, huh?

It was at night, on a not too well traveled road. Yeah, I slowed down and got away from them.

Personally, I wouldn't pay the extra. But...I love reading and trying to figure out other people's and why they chose it. If I saw the one you did OP, I'd assume they were big Aerosmith fans.

There's a car around here (UVA) area that has the UVA plate with the big orange "V" already on it...their personalization is IAGRA! I am NOT kidding!

Mine is WWWD 125 (What would Walt do? December 5). I got them at no extra charge during a promotional period several years ago. It costs me the same as random plates.

We have vanity plates too. DH has several....PRA4POW and ILUVUSA on his cars and SCOOT, SCREMER, and SHAPPENS on his motorcycles. I have SHMILY1 on my car and DD has BADACT on hers. DS wanted us to get him one that said GEORGE, but I didn't because that's not even close to his name..... he has a regular tag.....

When we got our van, I joked that we should have "Freakin' Sweet" as a license plate. So... yeah, we ended up with FRKNSWT. My brother in law decided it stood for Franken-Sweat.

They just recently raised the cost of vanity plates, so I don't know if that one will survive after re-registering.

I love Disney plates, but I'm sure there are people who see them and think "huh." To each his own, I figure. I don't have them because I'm cheap (I do have environmental fund plates though because I support the cause and I think the plain Mass plates are ugly).

In NH vanity plates are FREE so there are a lot of stupid ones I see all the time, since I live on the border. SOme are pretty funny!

It used to be $15/yr in Maine, everyone has them. There are also a bunch of license plate options that benefit different societies (lobster, agriculture, breast cancer, animal welfare, etc.). I think they just raised it to $25/yr. It's worth it.
