Vanilla extract. 16 oz bottle on amazon $75. Why?????

Due to the alcohol content of all real vanilla extracts, I would only buy the quantity you can use up in a few months. Would imagine the alcohol will evaporate over time so not as good after sitting around for a year.

If it seals, it'll pretty much last forever.

The alcohol doesn't evaporate out of my homemade vanilla. I've had bottles that have lasted years.

I use the $4 bottle/2oz generic vanilla from Lidl and notice no difference from name brand. And Im constantly baking (I sell cakepops) They also frequently sell whole vanilla beans which I use too, and I use the empty pods to make vanilla sugar which is delicious and easy to make.

Glad to hear Watkins mentioned so often. I have seen the name, but was concerned it was no nothing brand.

watkins is a good brand. it's vanilla has always had a good reputation but you had to buy it back in the day from 'the watkins man' who traveled in a 'watkins van' through neighborhoods so not as convenient if you ran out. in addition to their vanilla they make some very good dry dip mixes-we use them to create wonderful flavored breads in our breadmaker (just add about half a package to the ingredients in the bread recipie for a loaf).
