Vancouver Hotel Options

How long do you think it would take to walk to Granville from the Westin Bayshore? We like walking, but a walk/boatride might be nice too.

Jodie

It would take about 40-45 minutes to walk from the Westin Bayshore to Granville Island.

From Canada Place?
Thanks - We are a group of 10 ranging from 11-72. So I don't think we will all fit in one cab, but if time is running short that would probably be the quickest.

We stayed at a Best Western about a mile from Canada Place. There's a White Spot right inside of it. That place has great food. Plus, they had free shuttle to the port. It was also very convenient to the train to the airport (5 minute walk).

Glad to hear positive reviews. This is where we are staying in August.

We needed three rooms and found a good deal on Booking.com at the Comfort Inn Downtown Vancouver.
$1150 total - $383 per room - $192 per night. We are flying in on Saturday for the Monday cruise.

I can also recommend the Coast Coal Harbour hotel. We stayed there the last time we visited Vancouver and it was very nice. It is 4-5 blocks from the port and we walked it with our luggage.

This is where we are booked for September. It seemed a good rate in a reasonable walking distance. I'm looking forward to it!

We, too, stayed at the Pan Pacific. It's still one of my favorite places we've stayed. Loved waking up and seeing seaplanes taking off and landing....gorgeous views. We took the rail system from the airport to downtown Vancouver. With three kids ages, 2, 6, and 13 we were a bit worried but it was SUPER easy and inexpensive! My DS-2 loved riding the train and there were no transfers....just stay on till the last stop I believe. While I loved leaving our luggage in the room and having them take it down to the terminal, it wouldn't be a deal breaker.

I'm looking into this too…..question, can you walk from the hotel to the cruise terminal from the Pan Pacific? And do you have to book through Disney to get the luggage taken over?

The Pan Pacific is ON the pier.

You can walk to the cruise terminal from just about any hotel in downtown Vancouver, but PP is literally *right there*.

That building is both Canada Place AND the hotel.

Canada Place/Pan Pacific on the right, then a street, and over there is one of the Fairmonts I believe. And a Tim Horton's is hiding somewhere in there as well.

It's all just SO close.

The Pan Pacific is on top of the cruise pier. You only need to take the elevators down to the cruise level on the morning of departure. In addition, Bell Services will pick up your bags in your room and take them to the ship for you, which is a very nice perk. :)

A ship. The "sails" of Canada Place's pier. The building housing the hotel.

We booked the Times Square Suites on Robson. For four nights (for our party of 6) it was $1,500. It is more like an apartment hotel with a full kitchen AND LAUNDRY!!! They had mostly excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. Safeway is right across the street and Whole Foods is 3 blocks away. Starbucks is right outside the door. We are staying for 4 days before our cruise. We will have to pay for a taxi to get to the pier but we will be able to do more sight seeing because of the saved money.

If any of you are runners (or walkers), there's a Running Room store really close by. They have casual runs sometimes, so check their website to see if there are any during your stay!

There's also a Safeway grocery store nearby, which might be nice for staples so you don't have to spend ALL of your money at WF. :)

Totally jealous right now! We decided to cancel our September Alaska cruise so there's nothing "forcing" us to get to Vancouver this summer. We ended up booking a Southern Car cruise out of San Juan instead, which we are out of our minds with excitement for, but that's Dec of 2016...a long time to wait. (cancelled and newly booked cruises on Royal, not Disney, lest I confuse anyone with the timing of the cruises)

Just so that everyone is aware there are 2 Best Western Hotels downtown on Granville Street. The one that everyone is talking about here is on Drake and Granville. It is the one with the White Spot. I live in Yaletown not far from there and it is where my parents often stay when they visit us and is the nicer of the two.

We stayed at the Delta Vancouver Suites (leaving today for DVC Member cruise WAHOO!). This is a great option if traveling with kids. The rooms feature a sliding Japanese style door to separate the living room area from the main bedroom where the pullout couch is. The pullout couch bed is not comfortable at all but little kids won't care. My 17 year old unfortunately cared and complained rightfully so. There are TV's in each area btw.

The rate was decent around $200/night and wifi was free which helped us not have to use data from the lame international plan with AT&T. The hotel staff was great. Most gracious and attentive. The location is very walkable to many sights including the cruise terminal. If it wasn't for luggage we would walk to the terminal but it's just too much to deal with.

I booked the Hyatt regency for 138.00 an night plus tax. It came out to 338.00 total for two nights. I booked through last minute travel. I have always found that site to have the lowest prices and they are fully refundable. If the price of Pan Pacific drops I'll cancel and rebook.

@Garretts92 , so glad to hear it as that's where we will stay!

is there a grocery store nearby?

p.s. have a great time... can't wait to hear all about it!!! :)

I haven't seen anything I would call a grocery store but I wasn't looking hard for one. There are small/tiny convenience stores near (one attached to the hotel about the size of a walk in closet) and a nice sized dollar tree type store a block away for drinks and snacks (have Canadian currency on you if you go). Plenty of coffee shops! I think there's one called Urban Fare but it's not convenient to the hotel.

As a side note....look what pulled into port this morning...

I guess I spoke too soon I just checked last minute travel and they have the Pan for 203.00 per night. 498.00 total with taxes for two nights. I think thats probably the best price im going to get. Time to cancel the Hyatt.

Has anyone stayed at the Fairmont Waterfront? I'm under the impression its across the street from Canada Place and I just wanted to hear someone's thoughts on their stay there.

Thanks!
