Value vs Moderate?

AoA had a create your own pasta bar. The theming isn't as relaxing as POR, but it is a lot cheaper. I also liked the bus service there. It really depends on how much time you want to spend at the resort. When we stayed at AoA, we did not spend much time in the room at all.

Do a mockup of the Value vacation price and renting DVC price.

As an example I could have easily booked a studio at a Deluxe Villa for $200 a night. Heck we got a 1BR for $325 a night which ended up being barely more than AoA family suite.

I would never stay at a Moderate because honestly I could always rent DVC for likely the same price.

I've stayed at POR for several trips and POP for several trips. I like POP better.

Pros for me (of POP specifically, have not stayed at other values) are cost, a bus line that you actually line up for vs. the push/shove free for all of a non queue line,

That is definitely a plus.

Cons- bus line is uncovered and you will be the last bus stop at every park and at DS. With kids this would be much harder to handle. Theming is prettier at POR with better landscaping versus sort of garish at POP but I felt safer at POP because it is better lit than POR.

I agree with the lighting at POR. While I love how it looks at night you can’t see that well. One night coming back from laundry, I heard a really strange noise from the bushes and I kept thinking some animal was going to run out any minute.

(Also there's the very real issue of it being way more expensive to go to WDW for a week plus with 4 people instead of 2...particularly once the kids all reach either the 3+ ages or when they all reach the 10+ age, which is where mine will be very soon. So trying to save a bit of something anywhere is nice. ;) So for us, the savings is found in the QS meals and the value resorts. You know, sticking with mostly counter service and picking POP over POR means adding things like a hard ticket event, a character meal, a side trip to Universal, the hopper plus tickets, etc. is a bit less painful. :) )

So glad to hear the positive feed back about POP and you are so right about splurging elsewhere. Switching to the value resort will allow us to splurge on park hopper plus and do preferred seating at the water parks.

We were at the new refurbished rooms last year at POP and we liked it so much we booked again for Sept. We are also DVC, and used to Deluxe, but when paying OOP, the money saved on value vs deluxe is so worth it. Also remember if the POP busses are full and there is an AOA bus you can take it and walk back to POP. I hope you enjoy your trip!

Thank you for the tip about AOA. Enjoy your trip in Sept. maybe the gondolas will be running by then.

We liked the ASM food court over Pop. Mostly because the ASM had a dedicated dessert counter and we had a few milkshakes and sundaes made for us after the parks. I did not see a dedicated dessert counter at the POP. But, last year we were in a newly renovated 10 day old room at the POP so that was nice. We are staying at the Pop again this year. In 2021, we will be stepping up to a moderate, prob POR, for a special occasion and something different even tho we like to over the top theming at the Pop.

We will be going to AOA for the create your own pasta but I didn’t know about the desert bar. A sundae after a along day in the heat will be a nice treat.
Enjoy your trip.

I have thought about renting points previously but always worry that the person with the points could back out at anytime.

I have stayed from Deluxe Villa all the way down to my recent trip that was at All Star Music and can safely say now that I suggest all the time for people to stay Value. If you want a really "Disney In Your Face" vacation, they are perfect! I prefer POP when staying at Value resorts just because the buses are not shared like the All Star resorts. I am very rarely disappointed with the Values and use the extra money we save for add ons like Memory Maker or Park Hopper. This works for my family but everyone is different, some people spend a lot of time at the resorts (we don't) so that could make and break an experience. If I had to suggest a Moderate though it would be Port Orleans (either side) or Caribbean Beach (Now that the construction is coming to an end).

Pop was fine. This summer is my second POR stay. I like it there. Big area, great pool with slide and food court. Just didn’t see as crowded as pop.

We like the Pop and are staying there again this Summer. However, on our 2021 trip, I think we are already leaning to POR. It looks really neat and peaceful.

One difference Value vs MOD that really stands out for me is the LACK OF SHADE waiting for the buses.
Quite honestly, I think it's negligent to not provide some covering at the bus stops!

I personally don't benefit from a moderate resort at all. I don't use the hot tub or the pool slide. I don't give a hoot about the lush flowers or scenery because im at the parks all the time. Hardly at the resort. I cant justify spending more for a resort im hardly using (I dont even use the food court that much). Im literally only there to shower, swim, and sleep.

That's just me.

And i must say, i loooooove the new refurbed rooms at pop and all start movies (stayed at both last trip). If you like to take it easy and enjoy the resort, then i'd go for the POR/moderate. If scenery is important to you, i'd go for POR/moderate. All depends on your likes, dislikes, and such. :)

While I have decided to stay at POP to save money, POR is one of my favorites. We have stayed at almost all the deluxe and many of the moderates and other than WL it is our top pick. The landscaping is so nice and the QS is always able to accommodate the busy times, the quiet pools are so relaxing at night and not a lot of people using them, and we love taking the boat to Disney springs at night. You will love it!

Your avatar is hysterical! 😂

The big price jump is going from a moderate to a deluxe; going from a value to moderate is not nearly as big. The mods have ceiling fans and queen-sized beds. The mod rooms are bigger; 54 square feet which isn't much but is noticeable.

The quiet pools at the mods are accessible during "closed" hours (at least they were at POR last week) while the pools at POP were not when we stayed there.

I like POP for two people in a room and prefer a king bed when staying there. The food court is less chaotic at POR compared to values.

I was planning to stay at POP on our next visit to make a "low cost" visit but our travel agent was not able to put the days together with their discount but could at POR so we are going back to Port Orleans Riverside (my real preference anyway).

I'm really interested to see how the Skyliner travel pans out when going from POP to DHS and EPCOT.
