Does anyone know why so many people were upgraded for free to SSR from a Value in August/September 2007? :confused3 Was that unusual? Or... is that typical of Disney? There was such a price difference (from about $90.00 to like $270.00 per night). I met several families/couples that had received it while there in September!

I think DVC is trying to keep rooms full during a slower period, and trying to entice people into trying DVC who would very possibly never have looked at it before.

I wouldn't expect it to continue happening on a regular basis.

Pop was overbooked. (a computer problem I think).

they were moved to SSR or OKW - some were moved to other places too.

Thanks for taking the time to write, I appreciate it! :thumbsup2 I was curious as to how everyone got the upgrade, it was sure a nice one!

Pop was overbooked during Labor Day weekend.
I would not count on it happening very often.

but just in case I have booked that very same time for next year.:goodvibes

of course since I love Pop will be very happy to stay there too.

I was one of those lucky ones that got the upgrade. i was in total shock when i received the email and at first didn't believe it. we got to stay in a 1br villa at ssr and had free dining that week so it was indeed a dream come true! we couldn't ever afford to stay in a resort like that. so, maybe they will do it again.

LOL! :rotfl:

We are staying at Pop for the first time in September of 2008, I cannot wait to see it!

Was it only Pop affected or were any All Star Resorts that bumped people over to the DVC's?

I was booked at AS Movies and was upgraded to SSR. So, it wasn't just Pop. I am not positive it was just an overbooking issue, I think maybe they wanted to free up more value rooms to re-book/get more revenue (as value rooms were then available to book - I checked).

we had a night booked at Pop last April for one night and we were upgraded to POR. We were psyched about that.

Thanks for the info everyone! I was just curious as to how/why it occurred and what all/which all values were affected. An free upgrade like that would be absolutely dreamy! Congrats to those of you that received it/them!

We are :( We were there in August/September and never got an upgrade like that. We thought we were doing good when we got upgraded to a preferred room at ASSp for free. Oh well, congrats who those who did!

Sorry that you did not, but the preferred upgrade was at least something! :thumbsup2 Did you bounceback by chance? We are going back in September 2008, but later in the month (not near Labor Day) so there is no chance any "upgrade magic" will come our way!

I would also think that since the DVC's were not booked solid and the POP was and WDW saw the need that people were still trying to get into POP, why not move those who booked early and make room for those who didn't.

They've been doing this on cruise ships for year, the earlier you book, you're chances of getting bumped up a level or two are greater.

I had no idea... I guess the early bird does catch the worm! :goodvibes
I am not sure exactly how it worked/how people were chosen (it was apparently some All Stars as well), maybe it was those that booked early? :confused3

No. We didn't hear about the bounceback offer while we were there. However, we wouldn't have used it anyway. We're going on DCL next fall instead of returning to the World.

They did not advertise "bounceback" at SSR either (no flyer, not on TV, no mention), we found out from the Dis on our return... lots of struggles to get it but we finally did. DCL looks awesome... some day we hope to see it! :goodvibes Have a wonderful trip! :thumbsup2
