I just called to add a few extra nights onto our upcoming June trip at AKV (after the other half of our family leaves - a little recuperation time :) ) and was surprised that we were able to get a value studio at Jambo for our dates (June 27-30).

I know these are smaller than the standard studio, but wanted to get some opinions on fitting 4 people (2 adults, 2 kids) in one from those who have stayed in them? We have never stayed in a studio, only 1BRs and larger, so I'm a little concerned about the lack of space.

Frankly, I wouldn't put 4 in ANY AKV Jambo house studio! They are just too cramped for my thinking. Even the 2 bedroom we had in Jambo seemed too cramped for 5 people. If you are okay with 2 people sleeping on a pull out full size (not queen) sofa, it might be okay, but there will be NO room to walk once you get everyone down in a bed.

It's not too bad. Value studios are smaller than regular studios, and at Jambo (and AKL) the furniture, while lovely, is massive. When the sleeper sofa is opened it does take up most of the floor space. There are two tables in front of the bed that have to be moved out of the way, and once they have been moved and the bed is open there is NO ROOM!

I found it was a lot easier, and we had a lot more space, to put one kid on the sofa when it was folded up, and the other on an air mattress on the floor. We had a lot more room that way. :)

I went solo in December and stayed in a Value studio. I was anxious to see if my DS9 and I might be able to handle it to save points for our upcoming trip. While the decor was beautiful and I truly loved the room, I was very surprised at how small it really felt. I personally wouldn't even consider it for a family of 4. :guilty:

We've done it several times with a party of 4 (including a pack n play) but only for 1 or 2 nights, i.e. weekends. It was fine during the day but at night when all the beds are out it's a bit tight.

Thanks for all the advice. We will only have to "suffer" in the studio for 3 nights so hopefully we can handle it.

The kids are still young, 10 & 6, so they should be fairly comfortable on the pull-out. We probably wont be in the studio much anyway since we are always running around until late in the evening.

I have seen the value studios and they are small and made to look smaller because the furniture is bulky. However, for guests looking to save on points and don't mind "crowding" with your family, it looks like it can be done. I perceive that the biggest issue you are going to have is where to put clothes (minimum drawer and closet space) and luggage and still be able to move around. You can possibly get some luggage under the bed but it cannot be bags that are large size.

I've stayed in one but only with two people- others are right in that the room is really small, mostly due to the layout. We did have a beautiful savannah view and loved the location of the room- no complaints here. I'd rather be at AKLV in a value studio than in a value resort with probably a smaller square footage any day! Somehow I don't think you'll suffer. :-)---Kathy

If you request and recieve a dedicated studio at AKV, you will gain an extra, full size, one door closet for extra storage. It does provide enough space to put a full size piece of luggage and an Owners Locker on the floor with additional shelf space on top of the clothes rod. We usually stay in studios now (we have an infant under 3) and the dedicated studio we stayed in December didn't feel a lot smaller than a standard sized studio. I must admit that if it wasn't for the extra closet, it would have felt much more cramped.

I just checked our reservation online and it does say "Ded Studio Value Jambo" so it appears we do have a dedicated studio after all. That makes me feel a little bit better about it. I think we can put up with the limited space for 3 nights. We will be moving there from a week in a Kidani 2BR so it will be a big adjustment, but for the point savings I'm willing to give it a shot at least once.

if the furniture wasn't so big - it would be fine.

you don't get the chest.

that say a dedicated is much, much better than a lock off. plus with a dedicated you will either pool or savannah.

I am surprised you felt cramped in a 2 bed. I have 5 in my family, even a 22 year old son and we had plenty of room to spread out. Of course when Kidani opens that extra bath will be awesome!! We even did fine in a 1 bed as well.

We are a family of 4, and had no problems with our studio last summer. We had a wonderful view of the savannah, it is a great resort!
