Value resort with crib/pack n play - too small?

We've stayed at value resorts several times and know just how tiny those rooms are. But we've never done it with a little one who needs a crib/pack n' play.

First, what does the resort provide in terms of a crib or pack n' play? We'll be flying so we won't be bringing our own.

Second, if you have done this - stayed at a value resort while using a crib - how doable is it? We will have two adults, a 6 year old, and a 1 year old in the room. My sense is this is going to be extraordinarily tight but we are on an extraordinarily tight budget, too. Money is a huge factor, but if we literally can't fit our luggage, stroller, the crib, and ourselves in the room, that is a problem!

I don't know anything about how to request a pack n' play, but I do think it would fit. My kids have a hard time sleeping in the same bed. We bring a twin size blow up mattress for my son to sleep on. It fits at the end of the bed. We also bring A LOT of luggage and food (we drive) and always have enough room for everything. There isn't a lot of room, but we are at the parks most of the day so that doesn't matter.

Thank you! This will be the first trip since we've had kids that we will fly, not drive, so I know what you mean about having a lot of luggage and food. But for past trips, we've brought grandma and had two connecting rooms at the value resorts, and this would be different in that we will only have one room.

It's helpful to know you have made it work with an air mattress. And a good reminder that we also spend nearly all our time at the parks and out and about, just as you said. We're only in the room in the morning to get ready for the day and at night to get ready for bed. Hence, why the value resorts are such a good value for us (why spend a lot on a room you are never in?)

Thanks for this!

I'm glad to hear a twin air mattress fits. I plan on bringing one in September when I travel with my 3 girls. I really want my own bed..

You can request a PnP. And it fits even with stroller & luggage. The rooms are not large, but it's doable. Not sure what your sleeping preferences are, but if you wanted to do 1 parent and 1 kid in each bed, you can also request bed rails. That's what we did last year when DS was 1. I slept with him in 1 bed with bed rails on both sides, and DH slept in the other bed. That freed up a lot more floor space. :)

I would have never thought of bed rails. Interesting idea. DD1 would probably want the baby in bed with her if we got the rails! But that actually could work. I will keep that in mind.

We did it last year and fit a sit and stand stroller in the room as well. It is definitely doable, but it is tight. I am looking forward to the days when we won't need it.

When we stayed at the All Star Movies several years ago, my son was 11 months. We requested a PnP and set it up in the powder room area in front of the sink. We had to squeak by it when going to the bathroom at night, but it fit. We set it up every night right before bed and took it down first thing in the morning when we woke up.

It worked out great for us!

We stayed at All Star Movies two years ago with my DGD, and we rented a crib from an outside company. (DGD would never have slept well in a pnp) I put our clothes in the drawers provided, DH lived out of his suitcase. Suitcases were kept in the area next to the sink, so they were out of the way. The crib was set up next to the dresser, where the door would be if you had connecting rooms, and the stroller was kept in front of the window. It all fit really well, and the room wasn't that crowded. At night, I would replenish the diaper bag for the next day, so the next morning, we could get going a little quicker!

It's definitely doable, and we had lots of room for her to walk around! Enjoy your trip!!!

Maybe this is only a problem for my Gigantor babies (he has always been in the 98% for height) but when we stayed at a value with a pnp, he had a lot of trouble sleeping. They are not full sized ones like you probably have at home. I don't know the exact dimensions but it was tight for my 1 & 1/2 year old.

Wow, this is great to hear! Thanks! What company did you rent the crib from?

Hah! My DD is also pretty big, about the 87% for height, and if we do this trip she will be just a few days from her first birthday. Crossing my fingers the resort's pnp will work, or maybe we will look into a different crib rental option, as one of the other posters mentioned.

Thank you for the heads up about the size!

Good to know, thank you! I would not have thought of setting it up right by the sink. I'd rather not have to take it up and down each day, but would be willing to do it if that's what it takes!
