We have stayed at both the Wilderness Lodge and the Animal Kingdom Lodge in the past and have liked them but this time plan on staying someplace not quite as pricey. We don't spend much time at the resort and will be going in December so the pool will probably not be an issue. We had thought about both the All Star movie or the Port Orleans Riverside. What are the advantages to each and disadvantages? I have heard the All star resorts have realy good food courts. Any info would be great. Thanks.

Had stayed at AKL on last two trips and opted for ASMo this trip because we also would not have been in room much. We were there in January for two days of running   and one day at the Magic Kingdom ::MickeyMo . We actually did spend the afternoon after race one at the pool because it was so warm. I thought I would only be able to tolerate the resort but wasn't going to waste additional money due to the season and nature of trip. The entire family actually enjoyed the resort and I would do it again for a similar type trip. We were in newly renovated rooms. Food court made everyone happy and food was made to order. We love POR as well.

Your room does open to the outside, but it was no more noisy than an interior hallway. Value has no real activity to offer other than swimming and an arcade, moderate does provide amenities..........if you will be using them. No sit down restaurant at value, didn't matter to us as we were eating elsewhere. Actually I have never eaten at the sitdowns at moderates either. If I am going to be waited on I go to a deluxe hotel to eat. POR has a good food court as well.

I would look at what level amenities you want and how much time you will be staying at the hotel. The more time we think we will be enjoying the hotel (we do trips with down days) the nicer I like to stay.

hey I have stayed in several deluxe WDW resorts - and I dearly love the Pop Century.

first of all it is NOT a deluxe resort - so don't compare it to one or you will be disppointed.

It has no slide - but 3 very nice swimming pools - the main one is the kid magnet. I enjoyed the one at the 50's.

the food court will be crowded during certain times - there are alot of people staying here - so don't go to the food court between 7:30 to 9:30am and expect no one to be there - that is not reality...

the same at night.

lunch time can be crowded too - but not compared to breakfast or dinner.

there is only one bus stop - so EVERYONE must get on and off the buses here - it is busy and crowded - this is the way it is...

we will be at Wilderness Lodge 3nights before our 6nights at Beach Club Villas

I just called today to reserve Pop Century for 5nights before those stays

I figure when at Pop we'll do more park days and the 2nd wk more pool days

If you can afford to stay 7 nights at a value resort compared to 5 nights at a moderate or deluxe and are spending most of your time in the parks, then a longer vacation is the better choice.

What a great vacation! I think you will be happy with Pop. We just returned and thought it was great. I agree that in the beginning you are so excited to go to the parks you are hardly in the room. Staying at a value resort I think is a great bargain for the amount of time you are actually in the room.
