value refrigerator for medical reasons?

We are going to stay at POP for our June trip. This is our first time staying onsite. DW takes a medication that must be refrigerated. It is my understanding that there is normally no refrigerators in the value rooms; they may be rented for $10/day. But they are free if there is a medical reason?

How do we handle this situation? I would like to have the free fridge if possible. DW has been satisfied by storing her medication in the lobby fridge at certain motels before, so I am sure Disney will satisfy her needs in some way. What is the best procedure to use?

Thank you in advance.

Yes, at all resorts the mini fridge is free if it is for medical reasons. If you need it for something large like dietary stuff then you need to tell them as they will probably give you a tiny fridge for holding medications. The contact is listed in the FAQs.

Forgot to add that if she needs to take the meds to the parks she can store them with the nurses at the nurses station. There is one in each DLR and WDW park. They store refrigerated medicine for guests there.

Just tell them when you make the reservation, or call POP now and have them make note of it.

However, the fridge won't be in your room when you check in. When you check in, remind them about it, and they call housekeeping to take one to your room. I'm not sure how long it took to show up, as we didn't hang around the room after we dropped off our luggage. No more than a couple hours, max.

Ours was a regular-size mini-fridge (if that makes any sense) and not the tiny medicine ones, it might depend on availability.

And, when they drop it off, they will most likely turn it on to the coldest setting. Make sure you check that. Some people have had medication freeze because the fridge was too cold.
The regular mini refrigerators are like dorm sized ones. The medication only friges are like the size of a shoe box. People have posted in the past about having either size. It probably depends on availability, like a PP mentioned.

Also, check your bill at check out to make sure you were not charged. It's much easier to deal with getting the charge taken care of while you are there than after you have arrived home.

On the mini-fridge that came with my AKL room, I had to turn it almost all the way up (all the way is to the end of the "6" region, I had to have it past center of the "6" region) in order for it to be cold enough. So, it likely depends on the fridge.

Just FYI, while the mini frig for meds is available for free, I did ask about a reg size frig for our upcoming trip and was told we would have to pay for it. One of the kids is latose intolerant, so we were planning on getting some foods that she can eat and since she's only 2, she's a little picky. Since she can't have any dairy we were planning to pick up a few of her favorite foods that she'll eat. I asked about the frig when booking the room and the CM said food allegeries do not qualify for a free frig. I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. So will be be renting one in August.

Check out the boards for fridge rentals and there used to be a pass the fridge or fridge sharing thread. Look into the price of buying a small dorm fridge and shipping it or buying locally.
