Value of Disney Visa Chase in Parks?

Is there really a value of keeping your Disney Visa Chase card if you are both an AP holder and DVC member?

0% for 6 months holds no value for me as a DVC member

Free character download (special meet and greet) has no value for me as an AP holder because those are included with my AP and the characters are the same ones we can meet any other time.

Chase early room booking and discounts hold no value for me as a DVC member

1% back holds no value when I have a double-cash card, Costco has rewards 1% - 4% and Discover has 5% on something every quarter.

The food discounts are there for AP holders as well as DVC members.

Am I missing anything?

Aside from character meets it might not bring any value based on your other cards. I am in the same boat as you and had my Disney chase prior to becoming a DVC and AP member. I don't think there are any additional/different discounts on shopping or dinning than what you get for AP or DVC. The only other benefit might be if you make any purchases from the Disney store online -- in this case you do get a discount (maybe 10%).

I personally have been using other cards more to gain better travel points than what i can gain with the Disney chase.

I found this:

So looking at this - you get all the same discounts with AP/DVC and actually more than with the visa.

Isn't there a Chase Lounge at the America Pavilion during the Food & Wine where anybody can walk into it. The past few years nobody has checked to see if you have a card.

I have a Disney Chase Visa and I didn't even know about the special meet and greet benefit of the early room booking thing.

I do always take advantage of the Disney Rewards on the card--I earned $107.00 and used it all on disney clothing while I was there last week. Of course that only amounted to like three T-shirts since everything is so ridiculously expensive....

There have been additional discounts for Disney Visa that don't apply to AP or DVC. I think a few times they got a discount on runDisney events. Also, they have had the opportunity to purchase special cardholder only pins.
But if you are AP and DVC, and have a rewards card with better than 1% rewards, then you may have no reason to use the card.

But for the same purchases, on a Citi Couble Cash card, you would get $214 :)

It's a weak offering that I only ever signed up for because of the bonus and 0 percent financing (for one trip)

I normally use my Chase Sapphire preferred (hopefully soon reserve) at check in and get double UR points instead of just using a 2 percent card.

The fact you get a redemption card instead of a statement credit is also a down side, not only do you have to wait for the stupid thing but you don't get rewards on those charges.

So basically over other credit cards it offers savings at the Disney store and...that's it other than some other meets which are also open to Disney debit holders (chase)

If you have the no-fee card the question would be is there benefit to cancelling it. I would keep it (or if you have the fee card - downgrade). There is no spend that makes sense to put on that card that you can't find many other cards that give you greater benefit. But remember also - aspects of your credit score include average length of time you've had credit and percent utilization of credit. Cancelling a card actually causes some downgrade in those areas. You still can get a discount in non-park Disney stores and of course, you have some photo benefits and other offers from time to time (none of which you usually can't get by other methods however).

I've had the card since the beginning and it sits in a drawer and only comes out to take on Disney trips.

In short - unless you have a reason to get rid of it (i.e. you need the credit for another card) just hold it.

Well I like my card I have had it since 2006. And I use the rewards for all of my buying there. And I use the card for everything. I pay my utilities, cable, food everything but my mortgage ( and the only reason I don't use it there Chase is my mortgage). We go every 2 to 3 years and by the time we go I have around $800 to $900 on it and since we are not Annual Passholders we use it for the M&G's as well. I am trying to remember but I believe at Star Wars we saved around an hour on the M&G wait times for Chewbacca.

One thing I was thinking of: in the parks if you make a purchase of more than $50, you get a %10 discount. I don't know how you pay as an AP or how you get that discount but it might be worth it to check that out. It's not like you'd have to use it for anything else...

When the girl is shopping in Epcot I reminder of that and to play accordingly. She has really stretched her money with that 10% discount.

We are not big spenders on souvenirs. And we've only been twice in the last two years (even though I have my card and saved up enough points in 10+ years to take our first trip for free). This is my problem with the 10% off -- they never have all I want to buy in one place so I end up spending (some days, not all) $50 but in different places so I don't get the discount anyway.

I tried using the shop parks app to make wise decisions but it just never worked. Like with tsum tsums -- some places had 3/4 of the ones she wanted and other places had a different 3/4. Oh well. I'm not good at saving so I like just using the card and having those points add up. Since I've been a member for nearly 15 years so at this point I'm sticking with it for most purchases. I like being a charter member even though I really got nothing out of that. Maybe one day...

We do each park for 2 days so she shops on day one buys on the second. She budgets and plans so she can stretch her money

AP currently gets 20% off of merch with no minimum purchase required. So a better deal than the Disney Visa.
