value hotel with teenagers

Hi everyone. I'm new to this board and we are thinking of taking my 2 sons and 2-3 of their friends to WDW in June of 2006 for a high school graduation gift. There will be 7 people including my husband and I. Which value hotel is best for teens and does everyone think we can get by with 2 rooms?

We haven't been to WDW in 10 years and I feel like I need all the help I can get!!

Just my opinion.....but.....I would not try to fit that many people in 2 rooms. I would get 3 rooms, one for you and DH and the other 2 for the boys. The value rooms are pretty small and the full beds will probably be a bit too cozy for teenage boys to share. Plus this way you will have an easier time getting everyone showered and ready to go in the am (thankfully they are boys).

As far as which resort...they are all about the same except for the theming but the ASSp might be a good choice.

I think this could get more expensive.

18 is the cut off age for WDW and I am pretty sure you will have kids that are 18 and older.

go rent points from a DVC member for a 2-bedroom - you will get a king in the master, a queen sleeper sofa in the livingroom, in the second bedroom either a queen bed and a double sleeper sofa or 2 queen beds.

the least expensive is OKW.

2-bedroom - Sun-thurs only (fri/sat - too expensive)
June 1-10 - 27 points per night - so between $270 and $378 ($10 to $14) - you should be able to find $10 per night at OKW


june 11-30 30 points per night so between $300 and $420 ($10 to $14) - again you should find OKW at $10 per night.
DVC resorts (when you rent through a member) do not charge extra for more adults in the room.

at okw you will get a full size livingroom area - dinning table for 4, full kitchen, full size washer/dryer in the laundry room, a whirlpool tub, shower stall in the master, a combination in the second bathroom. a balcony that seats 4. so plenty of room.

It will be fine if they get along and your going to give them the freedom to take advantage of late nights, hopping, and other activities without you. Yes the rooms will be crowded with teenage boys, but are they really going to be in the rooms that much? Even when it rains there is much to do.

I like bigger hotel rooms - disney's are VERY SMALL - but your not in them all that much anyway.

If they are like most teenage boys, the room won't matter, as they will be in it very little.

If they are not in the parks, they will be eating, or they will be judging bikinis by the pool.

It's what teenage boys do.

we had no problem as long as the suitcases were up against the hanging clothes area.....and we were four adults.........we only were in our room to change our clothes and go to bed at night........Disney has to much to do.......I think they will be fine.

We just got back from PC in April and the 3 teenage boys with us said they much preferred PC over POR (where they stayed on a previous trip).

Only been to POP for value but we really liked it. I would only get two rooms, but definately connecting or at least side-by-side just to make sure the neighbors are bothered by the four boys.

As far as getting away from the values and into bigger rooms as someone here suggested, my only concern would be eating... if you aren't doing the dining plan or have alternative plans, I think you'd want an inexpensive (well, this is WDW) food court for the boys. POP certainly fits the bill. I'm not sure that the mods have food courts in the same price range if at all.

I not a teenage boy anymore, but it hasn't been that long, so here's my two cents. Very important!!! get two connecting rooms. Not that your boys or their friends are going to be up to no good. It just puts then notion inthe back of their heads, that you'll never be to far away to tighten up the leash. Boy's that age are going to be at the parks all day, and out most of the night, so big rooms really aren't that important. It's just a place to crash. I went on many trips in my teens with groups of friends where we always had at least 4 people in a room and because your such good friends you don't care your alittle cramped. Save your cash for something else 4-5 teenage boys need, FOOD.

My dh and I have three teenage sons two years ago I sent my son and 5 of his friends to wdw for their senior trip/gift.

This is what i did

a. I STAYED HOME - most seniors are 18 now. If they are going off to college to live in a dorm with a 1000 other people, Not letting them go away with their friends for a week, seems a little silly to me. I figured that wdw would be much safer than the latest trend of going to Cancun
1. Its basicly a "gated Community"
2. No one is old enuf to rent a car, so there will be NO driving
3. I believe Disney would do ALL in their power to ensure that minors
are not accidently served alcohol.
4. There are cameras and security all over the parks, transportation
and resorts to stop the little angels from getting into trouble before they can even think of doing something silly.

b. I sent them in January - yes i'm a horrible mother - l (and 5 other mothers) allowed my son to skip Three days of school. They Left New England Saturday of the MLK weekend, returned home on Thursday, they had 5 full days at wdw
1. Off season VALUE season, MUCH, MUCH cheaper
2. Cheaper air fare
3. Too much activities (and costs)going on at the end of senior year

c. I rented two Studios at Boardwalk Villas (3 in each studio). They stay saturday nite at CRS (with annual pass rate) then moved to villas for Sunday to Wed nites.

D. Hired tiffany town car for transportation and they stopped at Grocery Store for a quick 1 / 2 run so the kids could pick up water, soda, juice and snacks for their rooms.

These kids had a GREAT TIME and still thank me for that trip everytime i see them (no i did not pay for the whole trip, the kids had to pay for their tickets, airplane tickets and tiffany town car- i took care of the accomodations and two of the other parents bought the kids dinner so they got to go out to two nice sit downs Ohanas and Cape May).

Son number two is graduating next year and i have offered him the same deal, just waiting for his answer so i can start planning.

If you do all go togather, i suggest Three Rooms. I have never seen teenage boys SHARE a bed and the less teenage bodies in one room, the less "touching" at three in the morning there will be. I suggest you take the room in the middle. We have stayed at two of the All Stars and at Pop Century and for some freason i favor Pop Century.
