Just needed to clarify, Valet is not free to non-DVC members who are renting points. I have read that it is not free but have been told by some members that it is free.
When the valet parks your car how do they know if you are member or not?
I would assume they would just like a decent gratuidty.

From what I've been told the blue DVC Member Card is supposed to be shown for the free valet perk.

The parking pass will say "member" on it, they usually go by that at the resort you are staying at. I've never had to show my card at BWV when I'm staying there.

And we had to show our blue card every day at BCV last May! Typical Disney consistency.

I know they are supposed to ask for the card; as usual, the reality will vary all over the place.

However, free valet parking is definitely a Members-only perk, not a perk of staying on points (like DDP, for example).

DVC perks are meant for the owner of the contract, not their guests. Valet parking at the DVC resorts is free to members, but not to renters.

It's possible that a renter could get it if they showed their resort ID, which will have "DVC member" printed on it. But the valets have always asked to see my blue DVC Member card.

Rule has always been that members get free valet, not non-members. What has happened in past is that non-members staying on a DVC reservation sometimes (often) got it because they didn't verify the person was a member and the room key would have "DVC Member" on it. They have apparently been doing more checking recently by actually asking to see your DVC Member card. That was done at our AKV trip in Dec/January although BWV did not last June.

The times I've been asked for DVC ID to valet park, they've wanted to see the blue membership card. Last time was at the WL.

I called member services since we will have two cars this time. They said the check in card that say member on them will be honored by the valet guys. Has anyone not found that to be the case?

I think everyone is saying that you need the Blue Member card. If the second car isn't owned by a member, you may need to give them a second member ID or they are going to have to pay for valet parking.

We had two cars last August when our niece joined us from Tampa at BCV. We gave her one of our blue membership cards and also verbally advised the staff that she was with us. Only one parking pass is prepared and given to you when arriving through the securtiy gate so we had to request another pass for the car at check-in. On every DVC trip we have taken, event he BWV. So much for consistency!

I don't know the rule but when we stayed at the BCV for our xmas stay (I am "NOT" a DVC member) on rented points the parking pass that I was given had a "M" in the corner which the valet took as I was a member.I was only charged a fee when I went to one of the other resorts that valet.I understand as a DVC member valet is only free for the resort your staying at.....hence the charge for valet at the other resorts.........but remember no matter what don't forget to TIP!!:rotfl:

I have been a member for nine years.
I have never been asked to show DVC card.
I have seen some DVCer's STIFF the valet.
I was speaking to a man who is a member and he was saying how DVC members do not have to tip valets because we are entitiled to "free"parking.
This was after he told me how much money he makes.
I explained to him in simple terms.
YES YOU SHOULD TIP THE VALET!!

Not tippping is inconciderate.
Just because we get a perk does not mean we are excempt from doing the right thing.

I can not believe how many people worry about a couple of bucks.
