I've got a friend coming to town over the summer who is asking about the valet parking at the AKL (breakfast at Boma, morning at Epcot and late afternoon at AK) and I want to make sure I'm giving her the correct info:

1.) it's $20 with in & out privileges?
2.) "in & out" does mean you can go to other hotels (like if they wanted to drive to Epcot and maybe park at BW or something?)
3.) "in & out" does NOT mean they can valet for breakfast, then drive to Epcot parking lot for free and back to AKL after? (Like that would mean paying valet AND parking fee?)

1. Yes
2. Yes, because the car's license plate number is entered into the Valet system.
3. Correct, valet fee does not cover regular parking at the parks.

The parking at AKV Jambo house is extremely close. I really wouldn't spend $20 on valet there.

Thanks! I'll let her know that it makes more sense to do the Parking fee (cost-wise) and just utilize the free self-parking for breakfast. It should help her cut way down On the number of bus/boat transfers. But might up her walking a bit ;)

You could always park at AKV and then use AKV bus. There is a bus from Epcot to AK as well. Return to AKV at end of day and have free parking for the day....

A few tiny tidbits...

No matter how you slice it, hopping takes time, especially via bus.

In summer, afternoon are the peak heat. So the worst time to be outside is mid/late afternoon. That is also frequently thunderstorm time.

So come 3pm.....A thunderstorm rolls in. when that happens, over half of AK shuts down. All the animal attractions, for example. Even if they are going to see Nemo, they will have to stand out in the heat/rain.

The two best times of day to be in the park are after dark, and am's.

Where I'm going is that they would do well to switch the park order: Pair breakfast at Boma with a morning at AK - THEN - go to Epcot. Summer offer extended hours, but generally AK closes before Epcot. If it storms, that will give them more flexibility.

Oh, but if it does storm, AKL is a fun place to hang!

If they have a car, it generally makes sense to drive to AK. As others have said, self-parking at both AKL and AK park are pretty close. The drive between the two is also pretty short. Waiting for the bus will add probably 15min of waiting for a bus to what is a 5min drive.

What is transferrable is the self parking fee in the parks. If they pay to park at AK, they can same-day park at Epcot.

Thanks. I think she has Yak & Yeti dinner reservation that day. Not positive. But I'll let her know what y'all think :)
