we will be staying at AKL . How does valet parking work? Are there signs directing to a certain drop of point? If you plan on leaving and returning to hotel via your vehicle on same day, must you re-pay the fee each time? When you are ready to use your car, are they pretty quick about retrieving it? Do you tip the valets and if so how much? Thanks for your help!

Sometimes there are signs right after you pass the guard house. It usually says something like "Hotel Entrance/Valet Parking". IN any case, pull up to the front of the hotel and tell one of the CMs standing there that you would like to valet park. They take your keys and give you a receipt. Since you are staying at the AKL, they will charge your room $6.00 each day it is in valet parking.

When you take the car out, the valet parking CM at the AKL should give you a sheet (he may already have put it on the dash) saying you have already paid for valet parking for the day. You can then valet park at any/all Disney resorts and it is free (costs only $6.00 for the whole day any resort) Not sure if it applies to DTD.

Depending how busy they are, they are usually pretty quick in getting your car, average wait about 5 minutes.

Tipping. Well that topic stretched a thread a while back to 5+ pages. Some people tip $1-$2 when they drop the car off and $1-$2 when they pick the car up. Some tip $1-$5 only when they pick the car up. On a recent trip report thread, the person posted that he tipped $10.00 (accidently).

thanks for the info!!! I think we may go ahead and use the valet parking. Is this available at moderate resorts also?

There is no valet at the moderates. Also, there is an additional fee to valet at DTD or the S/D.

Hi rtrtx2,
We stayed at the CR in Sept and we chose to valet park. It was so great--well worth the $6/day IMHO. We ate at a lot of the other resorts, so it was nice to just wait for our car after a meal, instead of bumbling around a huge self parking lot that we didn't know.

As for tipping, we never had the same valet when we dropped the car off as we did when we picked it up. Once we figured that out, we started tipping both valets $1 each.
Hope this helps!

I feel at the Swan Valet parking isn't really necessary. We were always very close in the regular parking area. We normally came in the end by the convention area and were in and out of the building in a manner of minutes.
