You can't see or smell the particles. For people with allergies, vacuuming can be a problem. It will stir up small allergen particles that will move right through a Dyson vacuum. Using disposable HEPA filters and HEPA bags helps a great deal. Dyson, of course, doesn't offer these features.

I am sorry if no one answered your ??....here goes.....I think the Dyson is very much worth the $$....I have used a Kirby, Hoover, Eureka, and a Kenmore vac and the Dyson is by far the best. The Dyson does an excellent job on pet hair....I have a short haired dog that sheds terribly and it does a great job.....

I'm not the OP and my posts #70 and #80 have continuously been ignored...

We've owned top of the line Eureka and Hoovers and had them either stop working after the warranty ended or just never quite do as hyped!

But we bought a Dyson top of the line this past weekend and I couldn't believe how much it vacuumed up. I emptied the canister at least 10 times while doing 5 rooms and that's after vacuuming with the Hoover just last week. We didn't pay full price since we used a 10% off coupon at Best Buy.

I am definitely a believer! We have two cats that shed extensively and carpets and rugs over most of the floors.

As one poster said our carpet (20 years old) NEVER LOOKED THIS GOOD since we moved in 18 years ago! And I am not kidding!

I don't care what Consumer Reports says, the truth is in the great results we got this past Sunday!

A Dyson believer!

UPDATE -

Bought the Dyson Animal DC14 today! Works wonderfully and looking forward to trying out other attachments when I'm not quite so tired. Thanks for the info everyone.
