also included in that reporting is that they will likely be doing an 8 week interval (at least in ontario). which is odd since all the studies done were 21 days. Something to keep in mind tho if any travel is to occur prior to 10 weeks after first dose. I have a trip planned for January and I'm thinking ill get my 11 year old his 2nd dose while we are in florida if they stick with the 8 weeks in ontario.
MB says they'll have doses/appointments by next weekend.
Yep. And to give credit where itโs due, there was so much criticism of that decision at the time and in the end it ended up being the perfect amount of time to give us the best protection.MB says they'll have doses/appointments by next weekend. Re: the 8 week interval - I believe that's what they discovered to be the ideal time between doses for adult vaccinations as well, so it makes sense that the pediatric ones would follow suit.
I work part-time at one of the super centres, and we just got a bulk email asking us to indicate if we're available to take shifts in schools. Since the workload at RBC has ramped down significantly (and Leila has closed altogether) I imagine the Shared Health staff pool is what they'll be mostly drawing from. Pharmacies are also permitted to vaccinate 5+ now. This would be fantastic! Though as a Public Health Nurse, I'm curious where the workforce will come from to do this. It's insane the workload we have right now.

Yes, this timeline sacrifices higher immediate protection in exchange for better longer-term protection. I don't see any reason why a provincial gov't couldn't make an individual decision to shorten the interval though, they've made similar decisions re: eligibility, intervals, and boostersBut in the wait period between doses the efficacy is less than ideal. Personally Iโd rather have them done ASAP as our cases here are highest theyโve ever been and have them fully vaxxed in 5 weeks and worry about 6 months from now later, than waiting 10 weeks to be fully vaxxed .

BUT....these kids still can't go to school for 2 weeks when returning. Ridiculous.
This question was asked at the press conferences yesterday and those rules have not changed (not true quarantine, but no return to school either). I have a trip planned for March but was a little distracted...I know it makes no sense but another of the rules don't.When the kids are fully vaccinated (2 weeks after 2nd shot). they can go to school after returning.

This is great then if I'm wrong.
