We are looking at fostering and adopting a dog through one of the rescues. I would rather not have the dog be stressed by being bounced to another house, even for a short time. Does anyone know of some nice places (Northeast, coastal preferably) that will accommodate dogs? This will be a big, big dog too. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Buy a camper..... we take Maddy camping with us all the time. She loves it... she gets so excited when she sees us packing the camper- she gets to sleep on the bed with us- I think that's why she likes it so much.

My brother took his dog, Oreo, camping with them all the time. She loved to go camping too. Oreo just passed away 2 days ago, I am sad. :(

We travel with our dogs all the time and even took our Lab on our honeymoon! We drove from Chicago to Cape Cod and stayed in a Lovely B&B. There are lots of books about traveling with you rpet. Or you can go to www.petvacations.com and do a search for accomodations. Remember, if you travel far from home, you should bring not only your dog's food, but also a container of water from your house. Dog's can get digestive upsets from drinking strange water. Good luck and have fun!

There are plenty of houses you can rent that allows dogs in the Outer Banks. In some towns the dogs can even go on the beach! We rented a house in Nags Head last year and already booked the house for this year. It has a fenced-in yard & is two blocks from the beach. Dogs are allowed on the beach in Nags Head. What a site! A Siberian Husky on the beach!!!!!!!!

Oooohhh! That sounds good so I'll have to look into that one. Do you know if there is a particular website that I can get more info? Thanks!

We also rent at the Outer Banks in North Carolina. We have dogs but they don't go with us. The house we rent is set up for dogs with a fenced yard and pet first aid kit, etc. We rent through Southern Shores Realty. (www.southernshores.com) You can search for a house that allows pets.

for this reason! We won't leave our Winnie home. We have also stayed at a few hotels with her but the noises are too distracting for her.

I rent through Stan White Realty but if you bring up any realtors that rent on the Outer Banks they all have houses that will allow pets. You can tell the true animal lovers - they plan their vacations around their pets! JEANNE
