Vacation Plans for 2022

WDW March 25th-31st. If our flight is cancelled we have contingency plans to make the drive. We postponed this trip once already because of a surge with a new variant. We talked and decided that if we wait for the variants to stop coming forward we may never go again.

Hoping to be able to visit family in NY state in the summer. After skipping it in 2020, we were very grateful to be able to go in 2021!

I'm avoiding making other vacation plans right now, though. I would rather concentrate on local things than get emotionally invested in a trip and then have to cancel.

(Of course I know that's always a possibility for other reasons, but with the pandemic, it just feels a lot more likely. And we went through it with a Universal trip we just missed due to the original shutdown, so I know that influences my judgement a bit.)

2020- cancelled plans to go to Omaha/Denver.
2021-tried to do Denver/Omaha again, but also cancelled.
2021-Drove to Minneapolis for a couple of days. Had a great time!

2022-want to fly to Seattle for a couple days, meeting up with a niece and her fiancé to celebrate their upcoming wedding, which we have chosen not to go to. This is totally cancellable if Covid persists.

A different niece is getting married about 2 hours NW of Minneapolis, so we are driving to that wedding. It is at a small winery, plans for it to be outside, so Covid concerns are lessened.

Disney in March. Holidays will be spent in Houston (thanksgiving) and Richmond (Christmas). Probably will do something between March and November not sure what. Was thinking New York City for a few days but not sure about that. Not one of my favorite places but nephew would like to see it. Maybe just a little beach getaway in early September.

Moved our cancelled 2021 graduation British Isles cruise to 2022
Cancelled British Isles cruise because international travel is a hassle right now
Moved our cruise credit to a Caribbean cruise in May
Crossing fingers we can go
Also have 2 nights in DC while the kids are on Spring Break in March

Greece in the early fall. Almost all of the sightseeing and dining is outdoors so we feel comfortable with that. I am really missing Disneyland but I don’t like the nickel and diming going on so we’re going to wait it out and see how the dust settles with Genie and all that before committing to a trip.

We’ll go to Orlando the end of June. Our family is there and my daughter has a gymnastics competition there.

Still haven’t decided where to go for our 25th anniversary. Leaning towards Gatlinburg area. I want to drive so it can’t be too far - 8/10 hours.

Wedding weekend in NYC/NJ in April
Seattle/Olympic NP in June
Fall break trip up in the air - maybe Universal Hollywood if Super Nintendo World is open?

We have cruise and Disney planned for the first week in August. I was able to book a 2 bedroom at Copper Creek. I have spent 1300 on alcohol for the cruise let's hope it is go.

We're currently thinking maybe Switzerland in May? It seems like a good time for a trip with a lot of outdoor activities. Of course this depends on how bad covid restrictions are in a few months.

So far, just a long weekend trip to New Orleans with another couple in March for 50th birthdays (my wife, mine and our one friend).

Figuring out something for this summer, depending on our younger son's soccer schedule and whether or not our older son will have time off before he starts a summer co-op.

Trying to work on plans for our 25th anniversary this October, but nothing concrete yet.

End of February we are supposed to go from New Hampshire to Universal for a week. At this point I think we are still going to go. We will take precautions but we are also at the point where my kids really need a break. We are supposed to be on a Disney cruise out of Rome in June to Greece. I am very very doubtful this is going to happen.

Cruise in February
Aiken, SC in March
Curacao in April

Hoping these will all go forward. We're vaccinated and boosted and good about wearing masks and avoiding crowds. Our plan for the cruise is to spend most of it on our large aft balcony enjoying adult beverages. We've been to all the ports multiple times and don't plan to get off the ship.

We would normally go somewhere May/June but DD20 is *supposed* to have a short term study abroad in May to Ireland, and then she needs to get right to her internship so not planning anything for summer other than church camp in August.

I can't be gone over tax season and DH can't get away during harvest so if we go anywhere maybe late November/early December. Also depending on if DD20 has a big girl job by then. I know just DH and I could go somewhere but it would feel weird! The girls are still very eager to travel with us and it's fun to do together.

If we could get away in warmer months we'd lean toward Yellowstone. If it has to be November/December, we might go to the Ark Encounter/Kentucky area.

We have SOOOO many SW points.

{{sigh}} We just cancelled the Caribbean cruise we booked with the credits from the British Isles cruise we cancelled in 2020. We were to leave in two weeks but Omicron coming out of nowhere has turned things upside down again. We were to travel with friends and both our husbands are “key men” in their organizations and can’t risk getting stranded in quarantine and not being able to return home as scheduled. Cancellation rules are not quite so generous this time around and supposedly, the credits will now have to be used before the end of the calendar year, so we shall see.

In lieu, I’ve booked a quick trip to a Cuban AI with a couple of other ladies, to leave a month from now. I really need the break, although it wouldn’t have been my first choice. I’ve bought insurance up to my armpits to cover all the contingencies and have made arrangements at work to have the following week covered if the worst befalls. Again we shall see - everything could be totally different a month from now.

As a Christmas gift I received a short trip to Toronto with tickets to see the Raptors play the Lakers in March. :cloud9: Joy!! But will it happen? Current restrictions in Ontario have both the Raptors and the Maple Leafs playing in empty venues and all tickets are suspended until further notice. :(

End of May week at universal. But driving instead of our usual flying.

have a cruise in June as a backup plan as they have lower numbers of guests.

My son is going to DC in April with his band and with omicron over by then hopefully it is a go. My DH and I debated flying to vegas while he is gone but we won’t if we have to mask everywhere. Until omicron we felt so good with our vaccinated and boosted selves!

hopefully A long weekend within a few hoursthis summer - maybe Helen, GA? My parents live in Hilton Head so that’s always the backup plan if everything else goes south.
Cherry Blossom Festival? I went to that in High School Band. Like 100 years ago lol. It was fun.

We also will be at Universal the end of MAy. The week before Memorial day. We'll be there for 3 days then 3 days at the beach.
Will probably go to Branson a couple of times, but thats only a 3 hr drive.
