Vacation Plans for 2022

Just got home from WDW for marathon weekend with my friend, going to Savannah for a day then Hilton Head for a few days in April. We had a 2 week road trip of California booked for 2020 that we moved to June of this year. Idk if the rest of year looks like for traveling, yet

We had a great travel year in 2021. Several fun trips.

This year - 2022 our oldest daughter is getting married and we already have 3 trips related to that. Probably spend more time at our ranch and call that vacation. It’s easy enough to unplug there…🐄 🐴 🤠🌲

We’ve been planning London since 2020 (we postponed it then, and moved it to later this year)….but now we are wondering if we should even go now. Everything is constantly changing. We are afraid of getting stuck there.
Yep- my husband and I are in the same situation. We got passports late summer 2019 in anticipation of my first trip overseas. June 2020 in London was cancelled. We went to Colorado instead. 2021-no international travel again, went to New Orleans. When we got home, I immediately booked a Rick Steves best of London tour for June 2022(our 30th anniversary). It doesn't look like that's happening either. I haven't cancelled yet, have until end of February to get deposit refunded. We will not go if there is still a testing requirement for international travel. We are both fully vaxxed and boosted, we do not want to waste all that time and money getting over there to test positive. Back up plan for this year is New York City, neither of us have been there. Will I be able to use my passport before it expires? This is getting ridiculous.

Plan to roll the bus out of the garage this year and do some traveling. Local stuff we're looking at is Key West, St. Augustine, and Destin. I need to try and get to Tallahassee to see my 96yo Aunt. I've never been to the Flagler museum in West Palm Beach and that's on the short list. I'm just always hesitant to plan stuff locally during hurricane season because I hate getting kicked out before my trip is over. (I know, first world problems). We are really looking forward to a western trip but that's going to take a few months so we'll have to be retired to enjoy it.
So while nothing is booked, that's probably this years list.

Ft. Lauderdale in March
Was going to reschedule a Sept 2021 overseas trip for Sept 2022 but we decided to wait until 2023.
Maybe Maine in July or August but I'm inclined to spend a week at our camp for a mid summer vacation instead.

You are exactly my parents with the passport story. Late 2019 got the passports (mine renewed late last year).
we thought we were going to be out of the woods-and again we aren’t planning to go until August/Sept but it’s just so frustrating. I also feel horrible for those who came to the states only to have their trips also put into free fall with changes.

We're booked for Iceland in April...hoping everything goes smoothly. It'll be a campervan adventure for us as long as COVID doesn't throw any wrenches in our plans.

We are going to Greece and Turkey in June. No plans to cancel. We're vaxxed and boosted. It's hard to know what things will look like in 6 months or if things will change regarding the booster advice. If we need another booster, we'll get one before we leave.

NYC is one of my favorites. It was our last preCovid trip and I'd be happy to travel there as well.

I would not recommend NYC to anyone right now- the crime and random attacks are through the roof-I try to stay out of NYC as much as possible.

I will say I have friends who just returned and had a wonderful time and felt very safe.

The only ones booked so far are:

WDW for a long weekend in Feb.
St. Thomas for a week the end of March

We were supposed to be leaving this Friday for a weekend in NYC because we bought Billy Joel tickets 2 years ago, the date has just been changed AGAIN to August. I'm annoyed because the previous dates have all been Fridays, this one is on a Wed., meaning 3 days off work instead of one, and who knows now if DD who is in college will be able to go.

Sitting on a bunch of airline/hotel points we are waiting to use on a blowout trip back to Europe (destination TBD), hoping fall, but don't we don't want to travel internationally again until the testing requirements are gone. I'm saving those points for a carefree vacation!

I'm really torn, and very frustrated.

We have two (actually 3) big bucket-list trips we want to do, but Covid keeps getting in the way. We canceled our Alaska trip in 2020, and never booked it in 2021. Now the family we want to tour Alaska with is questionable because they're doing another trip.

Plus Fauci is now saying (this week) that practically everybody is going to get infected by omicron, so how much sense does it make to vacay in three places where the rates are sky-high?

To make matters worse, DW has some walking difficulty and it gets a little worse every year. So I have to wonder how many years she has left to tour places she's never been.

Hmm, I guess I'll take my chances :confused3 I can't believe it's any worse than San Francisco, we've been there countless times since we live in the Sacramento area. We even did a two night trip end of August. We just parked our car at the hotel and left it there, the car break ins are horrible and we didn't want to risk it, we walked everywhere or took Uber. Since we can't get to London(again) we're heading to NYC this June, come hell or high water. I'm not getting any younger.
