Vacation Pkgs for Universal

Are the vacation packages for the Universal Parks, Airfare, Tickets, etc. usually not the best deal (like the Disney package deals?)? Do you feel it is best to book the room and tickets separately? And, finally, do the Fan Club rates "usually" give the same discount as the Entertainment Rate during July? (at PBH)? Thanks!

DisneyBarb, If you get the Universal Fan Club card, you can get a better price on tickets than thru AAA. Also, the Fan Club and Entertainment rates for HRH aren't out yet for next summer (we're going in June), but when I called this week, I was told that for this year the regular "rack" rate for HRH garden view is $229; this year's Entertainment rate is $125 and Fan Club rate is $139. Use those numbers to compare the cost of separate v. package. I'm willing to bet separate is cheaper. Let us know.
