Vacation Package

Hello! I am wanting to take my mom and 12 year old nephew to Universal Studios in September. I am trying to figure out if buying the vacation package and staying at a Universal Resort with unlimited express package is worth the extra cost. Will it be super busy in mid September where we need the unlimited express passes? Also my mom doesn't want to ride any of the rides so I feel like I would be paying for something that she won't use. Any suggestions would be great!

Price out tickets and hotel costs and compare it to the packages deal

See which way you come out ahead
Let that help you if a package is for or against the total costs

I have not found packages a better deal

You can buy park tickets at other vendors besides UO

HHN is a separate ticket event
Studios will close at 5 but IOA will be open longer on the nights hhn happens

HHN begins after the first week in September

You don't want to book a package. Just do things a la carte. It gives you more flexibility. The exception would be if you were a Costco member because their terms and perks are pretty nice!
As Mac said, the hotel price includes the express passes if you stay at Hard Rock, Portofino or Royal Pacific. Don't buy EPs extra. I'd choose Hard Rock or Royal Pacific if budget allows because the proximity to the parks can't be beat. Whenever you feel like a pool or room break, you can be back in your room in 10 minutes from the front of the park. You might not need EPs for everyone but they won't cost you more if you stay in one of those hotels.
