what is the best way to save as much money as possible on a vacation for just me and my fiance' with resort, park tickets and flight

When are you going? Disneyworld is running a great promotion for this fall called "Free Dining" where you pay full price for the resort and park tickets, but get their dining plan for free. Really, you eat like kings and it saves around $40 a day per adult.

We usually book the basic package (resort, tickets, and food) through Disney directly (407-W-DISNEY) and then book our airfare on our own.
