Vacation Nanny

I was lucky to have my mum come with us for most of our trips so we could go on the rides with the older kids and mum would take the little ones on something for them or buy them a treat so no one missed out. I think having some one with you like that is awesome. I wouldn't know where to start finding someone though other than babysitting company's but I've never used one because I'm to suspicious of everyone lol. Shame you don't know someone who lives locally that could recommend someone to you. I love going on the rides with my hubby so I completely understand why a service like this would be great.

I am the same I have had my mum come with us as well last year and again this year as well 3 adults to my runner child is very helpful

I actually think this would be a great service...yes, child swap is an option and works well, but then you spend extra time at each ride for the re-ride, plus then each parent is riding it alone. Of course you want to spend time with the entire family, but as a local who goes frequently, often with my very short 2 yr old niece, it's nice to go without her sometimes to fly through all the "big kid" rides. I do love the time with my niece, and since my sister got her pass my park visits have changed dramatically...now I ride the carousel more than Screamin, and spend time hanging out with characters when I never would before.

It's a valid need, really, for visitors without extended family to watch the little ones. It would allow little ones to go on rides or meet characters while adults can ride height restricted rides together. Hum...as a local AP, perhaps I could start something... ;)

I think you are on to something there Cassie...:jumping1:

I completely understand the desire to have an extra adult, especially if you have a lot of young kids. Some rides require an adult to accompany each kid. If you have 3+ kids under 7 and of sufficient height, there would be an awful lot of swapping. Alternatively, with 2 kids and three adults, you could have someone available to run for fastpasses at all times.

I want to say that Fullerton does offer something like this, but I can't recall if I actually discussed this with them or just read that this was available. In the end we just used them for a dinner out. I would give them a call and see.

Yeah, the judgement on this thread really upset me too, and it's not even my thread! We don't know why the OP asked. As a family that travels, via plane, to DL, we don't have time to take one vacation with the kids, then find someone to stay with our kids back home and fly down without them for a separate adult vacation (and expensive too!). Plus in that case, we'd have LESS time with our kids overall than just taking an evening or two during vacation. It sure is easier for us to bring family (since we can), but if we didn't, I would not feel bad at all to hire a sitter to get some adult time. Not everyone believes a family vacation means you have to be with your kids 100% of the time. We still had plenty of family time when our kids were watched by their grandparents for one evening. And we sure loved having a second and third set of hands. And no, we weren't always together, we would swap off with the older kids and bigger rides while others took the younger kids on the carousel and such. Less standing around waiting for the younger kids and the adults - we all had a better time that way. If I had young kids and no grandparents to go along, hiring a nanny/babysitter to come and help would make the vacation more enjoyable for all, IMO. Without making me a bad parent for wanting one.

Has anybody ever used a sitting service in the park? Someone to watch the kids while the adults are riding rides etc.... I would hope that someone like that would have an annual pass so you would not have to pay daily park admission for them.

Hi! I am not sure of the answer but what you can do is call the Disneyland Hotel and ask to speak to the concierge. If anyone would know the answer they will. I have done that before and they don't mind (even though I wasn't staying there.)

I hope you have a wonderful vacation!

+1

I recall a vacation where my daughter asked DH & I for break from us. LOL

:-)

Very valid, and would be a great service. In fact, my friend has talked about wanting to be a Disney nanny for quite a few years now. She loves kids (and they love her!) and knows everything there is to know about Disney and the parks, so they would have a blast. She says she'd love to do it just because it would be fun, not so much for the money. That's the kind of person you'd want! She's a DISer but I won't name names as I'm only mentioning this to say that it's not only a good idea, but would be fun for the right nanny as well. I think it would be a great thing for parents--if you're spending several days with your kids at the parks, what's wrong with a little time apart for a while? It's a benefit to all, I'd say. The biggest issue would be making sure you had someone you could trust and who would be a fun fit for your kids.

I see you are a DVC member!! :thumbsup2 If you go to WDW may I ask HOW you are able to ride the rides there? :rolleyes1

Did YOU hire a nanny with annual pass while @ WDW? :confused3

FWIW, out at WDW there is such a service. Kids Night Out does provide in-park services. They do NOT provide APs for their employees and their employees aren't going to use their own admission. You do have to provide admission for the nanny. And if you really think about it, it makes sense. There's no sense in the service buying APs for each employee just in case, and why would an employee buy something for their personal lives then use it for professional life? Only makes sense that the parent buys admission.

I was going to use them to watch my son overnight for the WDW Half marathon (for which they had different-than-usual rules) but my aunt stepped in. Yay aunt.

What's funny to me is that it hasn't been until my son got much older than I started thinking about how I could use such an in-park service. When he was little he was easy. Nursed him, wore him, etc...easy easy. Now that he's almost 10...NOW we need a break from each other! :rotfl:

Someone mentioned an Anaheim service but I almost passed it up b/c it didn't look like the mention of a company. Googled it: http://www.aroundtheclocksitters.com/ That seems to be what they were mentioning.
