i am starting a list that i will continue to add to that lists vacation destinations that i would like to take DS to in the coming years. he will be 7 yrs old in may and we are going back to disney this year. oh and we homeschool so educational is excellent. i am starting this this year. we will be visiting NYC to see some of the museums, the statue of liberty, the empire state building, and possibly the bronx zoo. we will also be in the columbus, ohio area at least twice this summer. and if i am in ohio i have to go see my family in fremont so i wanted to take him to speigal grove too.
so if you were to start a list of places you would like to take your children one day, what would be on it?
thanks for all your suggestions.

We live close to Boston, and I plan to bring my kids in there a lot. They are now 4 & 8 so they are getting easier to take places. Boston has a lot of history and I want them to see it and know it.

We are going to Williamsburg and Viriginia beach. Williamsburg is loaded with history and also Busch Gardens and a water park.

We did the Freedom Trail in Boston last summer, loved that city! DH read the John Adams bio by McCullough and we toured the Adams residence in Quincy, MA near Boston. We adore New England, Maine, New Hampshire. If going to NYC there is an excellent Egyptian exhibit in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We live near Philly and do the historic area every few years, the Philadelphia ZOO is very nice too. We're going to Gettysburg in a few weeks. Planning on a DC trip soon. Want to take the kids out West to AZ, Grand Canyon.

Also, in Sturbridge, MA...there is Old Sturbridge Village (right off the MA pike) www.osv.org You could spend a day in the area before moving onto Boston. Add Plymouth & Salem, MA to your list too.

How about.... Bar Harbor, ME (Acadia National Park) Some outdoor activities combined with educational tours about glaciers & how they formed the mountains....whale watching tours...... lobster tour (all things mountains & ocean).

Pennsylvania Dutch. I loved it as a kid.

NH White Mtns.

Boston, Washington DC & Williamsburg are great suggestions of course!

Feel like flying ----- how about Yellowstone or any of the National Parks in California ???

Since my both my DS (9 & 14) are starting to actually enjoy traveling we've been trying to take one big vacation and some smaller ones over the last several years. Here's some of the places we've been that we've liked (we go to Myrtle Beach, SC) every year.

Washington, DC
Philadelphia
Niagara Falls, Canada
Baltimore
WDW, of course

This summer we're also planning a trip to Williamsburg and Myrtle Beach. The places we still want to go are....

New York City
New England coastline
Atlanta
Valley Forge
Washington, DC (the boys want to go back)
The Alamo
Grand Canyon
Disney Cruise
The Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas

We've promised each of the boys a trip of their dreams when they graduate from high school. My oldest wants to go to Ireland/Scotland and my youngest wants to go to Hawaii.

Looks like I'd better start clicking on reward programs!

Eureka Springs, AK
Destin, FL
the Grand Canyon
an Alaskan Cruise
the Redwood Forest
a driving tour through the Rocky Mountains
Washington DC and surrounding areas
St. Louis

Just a few to start with.

Hey since you will be coming my way...stop by Olentangy Indian Caverns. They are not that far from the Columbus Zoo. The zoo is a great place!!

There is also COSI in Columbus. Center of Science and Industry.
Very fun for the kids. Hands on science stuff.
