VA 'old' luggage allowance

I am one of the dregs still to fly out who booked before the luggage changes. I am curious to know if anyone else has flown recently with VA under the old allowance as it is now almost a year since they introduced the changes so I would assume those of us flying in the next few weeks are the last in this category.

On your manage your flights section on the website it always had the luggage allowance in the past. I did print this out once, but it no longer shows. I also have an email from VA customer services confriming that I get the 2 bags per person but on my booking it just has the standard 23 kg.

I am not worried about the outbound but wondered what I am likely to have to deal with on the return. Should I just pay if they charge me and make a claim to VA when I get back, or is it worth arguing a bit?

It all sounds very negative doesn't it? I just don't want to waste time if it won't achieve anything.

Thanks for any help. :)

We came back last week and had no problems - they asked if we were checking in one suitcase per person and I said no we had an additional case - not a problem just put it straight through. That had lots of bits we had bought in Orlando:thumbsup2

If you have it in writting I doubt they will argue, I am sure your correct allowance will be on the system. If they did dispute it yes I would argue it out with them, not enough to upset anyone but its easier to get it there and then than wait for a refund. I have just got a refund back from Hertz this afternoon, taken 3 weeks from them telling me it was being sent, thankfully I checked online before I rang to blast them:goodvibes

we flew back in Aug on the old allowance and had no problems. We had no letter as we had been told that it is already on their system.

I also booked ages ago and have the old allowance. I contacted virgin as my ticket also states the new allowance. They assure me that on the system it clearly states that I am entitled to 2 bags each. I am not too worried about it though as I really can't see us needing more than 5 bags, therefore the new allowance is fine for us. If they do try and charge you I would argue it when at the airport as I imagine it will be a lot easier than trying to claim money back

Thanks for bringing this topic up, we leave soon and on our tickets it says the new allowence but i booked the holiday last October so that means i should have the old allowence right?

Thanks everyone. It just occurred to me when I looked at the tickets and remembered that it doesn't display on my VA page anymore.

I didn't want to argue with them. I assumed it would be in the system, but you know how it can go just before departure. I am not one to argue if I don't think it will get anywhere but wondered if I needed to be prepared to stand for my luggage allowance. :rotfl:

Right, what question can I ask next? :lmao:

they tried to charge us at Downtown Disney check in on our return. I took with me the email from Virgin confirming the extra bag allowance, the girl took it to show her supervisor and we were ok. I think as long as you have the proof with you you'll be fine.

I wonder if it was just because you were at Downtown Disney and not at MCO for check in. I will take the email and leave the other printout behind. I seem to have so much paper with me I might have to pack a shredder so it doesn't all have to come back again, thereby adding to the luggage excess.
