Cplofdisnuts-Heehee...I showed my DH the thread with all the food pics on it...and I TOLD HIM to expect me to be taking pics of our dinners next time we go to WDW...he just rolled his eyes and said, "Whatever!" LOL!

Hope I didn't cause you problems at home.....Although I get the "whatever" at times also..... :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Mister Disney,

Thank you for your amazing review of the chefs table!!!! My husband and I are dying to check this out! We are food junkies and have been wanting to try this out for awhile now, unfortunately we won't be returning to WDW until next year :guilty: But we will for sure try and get a PS for this!!!

Oh my god, how was Morimotos? My husband is a huge Iron Chef fan and we're actually talking about planning a trip to Philly just to eat there! ha ha! I'm serious! I'd love to hear about your dinner there!

THanks!

Krispe,

I have had the pleasure of eat at Morimotos twice since 1993. First trip was June 1993, while in Philly on a business trip (yes, read expense report! :rolleyes1 )

I ate at their sushi bar on a Thursday evening in 1993 and had lunch there this past January (2005). I was able to snag seats at their Sushi Bar both times, and it was worth the wait.

Being adventurous, we had their "Omakase" both at lunch and dinner, which as their website says....Chef's Choice a multi-course tasting menu designed to allow you to experience the essence of Morimoto's Cuisine.

Omakase at dinner and lunch has 3 different "pricing levels" from $45 - $65 for lunch and $90 to $130 for Dinner. They also offer a "Beverage Omakase" which is a wine pairing without the wine.

We went for the high end and it was well worth it. I can't go into great details about it, because it was a some time ago and I was not planning on writing a review..., but the things that stand out in my mind are Toro Tuna, it melts in your mouth.....Lobster something or another, was incredible.....Octopus - YUCK, it was CHEWY.

If you get the chance to try Morimotos I highly recommend it.

We have reservations again for V&A Dining Room on June 1st. NOT the Chef's Table though. I have a question for everyone.

Would it be inappropriate to take photos in the dining room of each course? The atmosphere in the dining is a BIT different than at the Chef's Table. Whats everyone's thoughts?

I am leaning towards, asking them to put us in a corner and doing it. I don't think it would be cool in the open "rotunda" area of the dining room though.

Thoughts? Comments?

So people don't forget....we'll be expecting reviews AND photos from you all.....the rest of us want to live vicariously through your meals :wave2: :wave2:

October 10, 2005!!

Oh yes of course we will, unfortunately its almost 6 months away. We are looking forward to taking snapshots of our food :rotfl: I think we are going to need an extra memory card for this now :rotfl2:

So mark you calendars for October 17th-ish, 2005 That is when we will be back home and hopefully our reviews & pictures will live up to the expectations and worthiness of this thread :wave2:

Mister Disney-Will the flash of your camera being going off? Because yes, that would probably be annoying to the other diners. Also, maybe the clicking of the camera could be distracting. From what I understand (I have not dined at V&A's YET) it is a very quiet dining room. You sound like you understand there is a possibility of it being disturbing to other diners, so you may just have to "feel out" the situation when you are there. I sure would like to see those pictures, though!

Thanks for remembering me, Mister Disney! Everything looks so wonderful! I guess I'll have to try some myself :flower:
Aloha! :flower:
Lulu

Wildernesslodgelover and Mr. Disney:
Tho I can't recall anyone taking pictures of the food in the main V&A dining room, there are always flashes going off as folks get their pictures taken at the table, standing next to the central floral arrangement under the rotunda, or even next to the harpist! Hasn't bothered us at all and actually kind of interesting to watch.
So I don't think it will be any sort of a problem--unless you go from table to table photographing someone else's food :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Lulu - Sorry I forgot to post my response to your question.
We had Sushi, Sashimi and what they call "Snake in the Grass"

I will have to rant and rave about the "Snake in the Grass" they offer. IT WAS DELICIOUS!

"Snake in the Grass" starts with Shrimp Tempora which then has eel laid on it and it is wrapped in the rice, just like most "rolls". After that, thin slices of avocado and more eel are layered on top. Finally, eel sauce is drizzled over the entire thing. Shrimp tails hang out the end of the roll to form the "tail" of the snake and I think it was chives form the front. If for nothing else, I would go back to CG just to eat this again!

A friend of mine agrees with your assessment about that sushi roll. I think it's
similar to the "Dancing Roll" at the sushi bar at Wolfgang Puck's at DTD West
Side.

I haven't had the sushi at California Grill yet, but I sat at the open kitchen
area for dinner on my birthday last November. :sunny: They had a really
good foie gras appetizer.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who takes pics of food. I do that at the Food
and Wine Festival in the fall. If you haven't gone to it before...you really
should. There are so many great "fine dining" events, and they book
quickly the day the reservations are avaialble. Party for the Senses doesn't
sell out as quickly, since it's in a large venue, but it's like being at the Chef's
Table, but grazing at food stations.

If you can't go to WDW in October/November....you're missing out.

LOL...ok, Mister Disney...I DARE YOU to take pictures of other people's food! heehee!

Thanks uncleromulus. I didn't think about guests taking pictures of each other in the dining room! Duh! :guilty:

Ok, expecting another photo report from Mister Disney in mid June! :teeth:

Please tell me you also had a cheesesteak at some point in your stay here in Philadelphia!!!! I'm all for a fine dining atmosphere, not necessarily for the menu as I'm an unadventerous eater. However, if people start coming to Philly for food other than cheesesteaks, it'll break my clogged heart.

OK, I accept your "challenge" :cheer2: :cheer2:

What is my "prize" if I come home with a picture of someone else's food? :cool1: :cool1:

Yes, I DID have cheesesteak....BUT have to admit I HATE that cheese wiz stuff they put on them, so I asked for "american cheese". We had our cheesesteaks at the Reading Terminal Market at Rick's Steaks

Wanna know what else I got turned onto in Philly? Oregon Chai! mmmmmm....http://www.oregonchai.com/

Does anyone know if you can get Oregon Chai in WDW?

:teeth: Thanks for the review and pictures Mister Disney. We did the Chef's Table last year and it was an unforgettable experience. My FIL is an avid epicurean and on a first name basis with half the chef's in Manhattan, and he put the CT at V&A's in his top three favorite dining experiences. It was great to wow him for a change. The pictures really brought back some great memories :wizard: . I see you live in Connecticut, there is a restaurant near New Paltz, NY you might be interested in called Depuy Canal House (High Falls, NY). http://www.depuycanalhouse.net/

Chris -

Looks great, we'll try it out. Thanks for the suggestion!

I plan on taking my camera and a notepad to write stuff down on. It'll be a challenge as I don't have a dressy purse large enough for such things and I hate carrying stuff.... but I'll do it for you! :-)
