Hi,
Here's a 'What Would You Do'. I have a split stay trip RIV/GFV in May that is I'm using 133 banked points from 2022.

Given the choice, as part of your trip, would you:

1. Book (2) night stay at RIV in a Preferred View Studio that would put your total trip at 139 points; meaning I would have 6 fewer points to bank into 2024; or

2. Book (2) night stay at RIV in Standard View Studio that would put the total trip at 129 points, meaning I could bank my full allotment of points, but 4 points would go into 'breakage'.

Thanks in advance.

It's only a few months until May. It's not likely either is available for the whole trip. You probably have to piece together what you can get.

The standard RIV studios are difficult to book all the time, anyway.

I had the Preferred studio and waitlisted for the Standard, which came through. I need to cancel one.

Then you have to decide whether you can used holding points. I'm guessing most people don't go that often , and would rather spend a few more points to avoid wasting points. But if you go all the time, maybe holding is no big deal for you.

You can also shuffle existing reservations to take the holding points, if that's possible with how you travel.

If you go once every three years, then that's a different discussion.

I apologize, I should have clarified that my UY is February, so if I cancel one of the reservations tomorrow, nothing will go into holding and if I opt for option 2, I can bank my full allotment of points if done by September 30th.

But agree with you, I need to ask myself how would I rather spend my points and whether I'm ok with giving Disney back 4 points I'll never use.

Standard View as you can see the fireworks.

I made an argument that some of the Standard View should actually be a Fireworks view like BLT and be more expensive than Preferred even.

Honestly its all nice views from there but nothing ground breaking at the same time like you get from POLY or VGF and the view across the lake to the Castle.

I almost always book SV at RIV. While I hate to lose points...and only ever lost 5...I would rather save my points for the following year and be able to bank all of them.

your talking at most $40 bucks on losing 4 points,,,,you have to decide which view is more important

Ditch RIV and go stay at Boardwalk for more nights and see the fireworks from there.
