Using TV/DVD will it be too bumpy?

We are going to drive vs fly for the first time. Our kids love to look out the windows while traveling and we can't justify buying a portable dvd player. Will the TV/DVD's skip? Should we just bring our TV/VHS? WE would hate to get down the road an hour and find out the dvd's skip every bump we hit.

We have not had a problem with DVD's. The kids use the laptop. If you have the TV Video player already, why not just use that instead. Save yourself some money.

Our DVD player works great in the car! Matter of fact, we just returned from a trip to northern, VT. where some of the roads have seen better days, and the player didn't skip at all.

We're also driving to Disney from NJ (leaving in a couple of weeks), and for us, the player's worth every cent!

I am not sure I got the point across that we would be bringing a small tv with a dvd player in it. Not one installed in our car...

We would like to bring the dvd/tv because the dvd's are smaller etc..

no bumpier than your kid's lap in the back seat of a car....

The small portable all in ones with the LCD screen are pretty forgiving with bumps.... Just listen to the announcements about turning off all electronics during take-off and landings

How would you be securing this in your vehicle? It could be a very dangerous projectile should you get in an accident.

you can get a nice LCD/DVD all in one from wallmart for about $120 now a days... they are the size of a small cigar box... much better than a TUBE TV and much safer, and you can hook it up to your TV in your hotel room too....

How fitting, they put BAMBI on the screen...

We have a TV/VCR and then bring the playstation to use under it with DVDs -- we have never had any problems.

Yes it is secured in the vehicle.

We use a TV/DVD combo that we bought at Sam's Club for a whopping 124 dollars. It has the added benefit of being able to be brought into the resort, too. Didn't skip all the way from MA to FL. We place it on a milk crate (for better visibility for the kids), and use bungee cords to secure it. The milk crate is on its side, open to the kids, so they can store the DVDs in there. Wouldn't leave for WDW without it, and the kids still love to look out the window!

I think they sell bags to secure a 12" tv in the car. That's my biggest fear as well.

Skipping wasn't a problem with our portable dvd player.

Target has all sorts of sizes of bags that fit TV/DVD/VHS players that secure between the front seats or behind them. Half the time they are on sale.

Good Luck!

We have the 9" tv/dvd combo that has a cigarette lighter connection. It works great and never skips.

We started with a 13" tv/vcr combo and a power inverter, but the tv would hum loadly as we drove because of the power inverter.......
