using someones tickets

Goofyernmost is exactly right..my money, my ticket, my choice. That means a 40 year old parent cannot buy a ticket for his 18 year old son? Puh-lease. give it a rest. Now, annual passes are named & fingerprinted, so no luck there, but if you want to take the "nontransferrable" clause literally, then every person would have to buy his or her own ticket. This is simply silly.

It amazes me how bent out of shape people get when they try to justify breaking the rules. It is your choice to enter into an agreement with WDW when you purchase the ticket. You can not however change the rules of the agreement. Please don't pretend that you don't know the difference between someone buying all the passes for their family trip and the giving away or selling of a ticket once it has been activated. Diseny certainly sees/knows the difference other wise they would not sell more than 1 ticket per person per transaction. Perhaps they should change the wording to "non transferrable once activated". This should clarify WDW's position to those who believe that the non transferrable policy doesn't include them.

Listen, you were the one who wanted a literal interpretation of the rules. now, when it doesn't fit your pretty little mold, you throw in qualifiers. Baloney! Non-transferrable is non transferrable, right? So to follow your rules, it would have to be every person for himself. Does it sound silly? of course it does... Just as silly as your righteous stance.

And, for the record, you seem to be the only one getting bent out of shape. we are all amazed at the pettiness of it all.

You do realize that I do not write WDW policies don't you? Why are you so upset with me because you disgree with WDW? If you really have such a problem with their policies I suggerst that you either stop doing business with them or contact them directly. Lashing out at me is not going to change what their policy is.

I'm not upset at all with you. You are acting as the ticket police, just like the pool police, the mug police & the 5 in a bedroom police. I just think you are being silly. I'm not upset with you, i feel sorry for you.

You should take a dep breath & relax. This really isn't something you need to be so passionate about. I'm sure there is another place you can direct this wonderful energy. What you are advocating is like everyong getting a ticket when they are going 56 mph when the posted limit is 55. There are better things to worry about. I suggest you look for one.

So by stating WDW policies I'm acting like the ticket police. I just thought I was clearing up the lies that were being told to the OP. I didn't know that telling the truth is being silly. I'm not advocating anything I am stating WDW policy. You are the one who is clearly upset. Once again I suggest you vent your fustration concerning WDW policies toward those who set them and not me.

since you seem to have trouble taking my word for it here is WDW's official stand on sharing of tickets.
Q. Are tickets transferable, can I give them to someone else to use the remaining days?

A. Please note that all multi-day Walt Disney World® Theme Park Tickets are nontransferable and must be used by the same person on any and all days. The person that uses the ticket for the very first time must use the ticket for its entirety. Any tickets that are transferred in violation of this restriction are invalid for admission.

sha_lyn...you equated buying tickets for someone to shoplifting so yes, you are being silly, and no, that is not truth-telling. Once again, I am not upset. In fact, I'm sending you a big internet hug :bounce:because I sense you are tense about this whole situation, & since it is time for bed, & since I promised my self that we would never go to bed angry, i'm also sending you an internet smooch as well! nite-nite

by the way, i'm sure your boss, mr. eisner, wouldn't appreciate you telling potential customers not to do business with disney....

I DO NOT WORK FOR DISNEY
I notice you don't have anything to say about WDW policy now that I gave a direct link. Instead you had rather accuse me of being silly and of "not truth telling" because I comparred theft of services/theft by decption to shop lifting.
You'll find some way to justify sharing tickets even when you now have WDW policy right in front of you.

If you want to break WDW policy go right ahead, but stop blaming me and calling me names because you don't agree with WDW. This thread has become one of those "if you can't attack the message you must attack the messenger" post. Discrediting me will not change WDW policy.
I'm finished wasting my time on this post.

I am big on following rules, but even I see nothing wrong with letting a family member use a day or two on a park hopper that has been paid for.

I'm the pass holder. I hold my family's passes. I have mine, my DH's and my 2 DD's. So based on what some are saying here, I am doing something illegal if I use my DH's and he uses mine because we can't tell them apart? And my DD's are doing something wrong using each others because they cannot be told apart from each other??

That's just silly!

I buy my 3 year a ticket because it would be stealing if I didn't. If you are 'giving' someone a pass that is not used up as a gift to use and there is NO way to tell you've done this, who is it hurting and how would they even know. How is this stealing?

It's the same thing as buying someone a new pass as a Christmas gift. Is that not allowed either?

I've never done this "yet" but would certainly do it if I had extra passes to give.

Here is my opinion on the "non-transferrable." This is to prevent a family from buying a parkhopper and each family member uses the same hopper to get in the park. Example, family of five buys a five day parkhopper - dad passes it to mom as he goes through the turnstyle who passes it to grandma who passes it to grandpa who passes it off to auntie and now they can parkhop!

Sha_lyn - I, too, believe in following the rules. However, I have purchased parkhoppers for friends and family as gifts (most recently last year when I took my niece and a friend of hers to WDW as a graduation present). I believe you're being a bit too literal. If Disney meant non-transferrable that literally - everyone would have to buy their own tickets (as some people have pointed out). And along the same lines, everyone would have to use the fingerprinting technology used for the annual passes.

I know I said I was done but how can WDW official word
be taken in any other way than that the tickets are to be used by only one person and can not be shared or given away?

I agree with your opinion on this, but Disney does not finger print, they bio scan, big difference. :)

Here's my 2 cents, and if you wanna vent, flame or whatever, please do so b/c it won't bother me.

I believe 2 things.

1) I try to adhere to WDW rules as much as possible, so I'll buy my own ticket before using someone else's days on their tickets.

2) now here's an exception for me. My family doesn't have a lot of $$$. If, for example, my father was to come visit me for a few days and he payed for his trip, but didn't have enough $$$ to get into WDW, I would be more than happy to spot him a day. BUT... and I emphasize BUT... I will NOT give anyone free days if they have the $$$ to get in on their own.

Just for the record I have been asked for my ID on at least three different visits. So, do not take 100% comfort in the fact that others have never had their ID checked.

I can only imagine it would be awfully embarrassing.

I understand that there is no name or ID to check this against just wanted to let ya know they do, can and will check even if not in a case such as this one.

We have been asked for ID also, they spot check Annual Passes, which have our names on them.

Checking an ID is one thing, but, without a name on a pass, it is a useless waste of time.

As far as buying a 5 day and passing it back to family as each one enters the park it can't happen, the readers will flag the ticket . But for the Annual passes the Bio scans mean nothing! I just returned from 13 nights and I had used my step father's AP for the entire trip and he used mine with NO problems what so ever. So go figure!

Just to clear things up before I get flamed the passes were accidentally switched.

Wow I woke up and decided to look and see if I had any answers to my question about my sisters using my passes. I am so surprised that I stirred up such a debate. I can see all your points and I appreciate your responses. I am a honest person, and have a conscience, I know the difference between right, and wrong, and good and evil. I do believe I will take these passes and let my sisters use them. They are not signed, they are adult passes, and there is a chance if I don't use them now they will never get used. I really believe that this has more to do with the good vs. the evil. It may not be totally forthright, but is it an evil thing to do? I don't believe it to be stealing, I did pay for them. They are not annual passes, I do believe that using someones discounted annual pass would be "evil." But me and my sisters, and now my mother also going to disneyworld, and of course spending our fare share of money in the parks. Is not an "evil" thing. If a cashier gives me to much change at a store, I am the person who takes it back no matter the amount. I have a conscience, and in this case I have thought about it and it doesn't twinge that conscience of mine. But I do believe that there are people who are better that me, and live a higher law than I do. Using these passes would bother them, make them feel guilty so indeed they shouldn't. These are great people and I admire them. Me I really feel that I am Okay with using these on my girls trip. So bring on DISNEY!!!!!!!!

Since we are a provider of some "bio-scanner" equipment I can say in most cases fingerprints are recorded and matched in the "bio-scan" process. Artifacts in the "bio-scan" process contain significant history files to relate scanned image to base data. In other words fingerprints are used in match.
