Using Rewards Cards for room charges

Going to spend 6 nights at BWV in January. I have two Disney Reward cards totally over $300. I want to charge everything on my KTTW so I will have one printout that shows all my expenses. I will obviously give them a Credit Card (Disney Visa Card of course) for the KTTW. I have already purchased my APs.
Can I present my reward cards at check-in and start with a positive credit or do I have to wait until I have accumulated enough expenses and then go back to the front desk?.
Thanks!

Give them your Disney Visa upon checkin. Then charge everything to your room. The night before, go to the front desk and pay the room charge off using your Reward Card. Don't wait until the morning you check out, or everything will have been charged to your Visa.

At what dollar amount do they charge your credit card? We're traveling with our kids and their spouses, (10 Adults) and have 3 signature dinners planned, I have $925 in rewards cards and want to make sure the card isn't charged before I use the rewards.

As far as I know, they don't. It won't be charged until the day of checkout. You can go to the front desk the night before checkout and use the Rewards Card to pay toward the room charges.

I seem to remember them hitting my charge card at the $1,500 mark when I've stayed at BWV....this was a few years ago....though...now i try to pay cash for everything

I have started with a negative balance in the past, so yes, it is possible.
If you want to wait just be sure to give them your reward cards well before the $1500 mark since I have seen them charge my card when it gets close.

There is a balance threshold where they put the charge through:

Value resorts - $500
Moderate - $1,000
Deluxe incl DVC - $1,500

We attempted to start with a positive balance using our rewards card in November. We were told this was not possible, and like a previous poster mentioned, to come the night before checkout to use our reward dollars before being charged to our card. We did this with no problems.

You could just use the Rewards card at the restaurants...

Thanks for this information. We never came anywhere close to $1500, so that's why I didn't know this. The only thing we charged to the room was our tips which were a little over $100.

Thanks for the replies. I'll just run down to the front desk when I have over $300 in charges. That won't take long. ;)

That would be a good idea. I read a post some time ago where a guest had only put a rewards card against the room for KTTK charges. He/she was later embarrassed when trying to pay for a meal and the card was refused. I gather the charge for the meal had exceeded the rewards balance that was still available. In my case I just use the rewards card as needed throughout our stay. Though my darling wife did manage to put a dent in the balance yesterday with the massage , manicure and pedicure at Saratoga Springs.:rolleyes1
