Hi! My family is considering using 69 points in 2014 to stay at a RCI resort near Dollywood.

Thanks to some very helpful DVC members on another thread, I found the DVC points chart for RCI. It costs 12 points for a blue RCI room Sun-Thu, 15 points for a red one, and 16 points for a white one, so we could stay for 4 nights.

I found on RCI's site the resorts that have the RCI points logo accept poitns. On this resort, http://www.rci.com/RCI/rdg/availableUnits.do, they're in red reason when we hope to go in Nov.

I wonder, has anyone done this--is my logic right?

How do we do the exchange, call member services? Do we do that w/in the same window as if we were staying at a non-home DVC resort?

Thanks so much! Jennifer

For nightly RCI exchanges, you can book from 48 hours to 10 months in advance of the check-in date. You can either call MS or use the RCI booking link on the member website.

I think you reversed your numbers for the red and white time. One point is that DVC's LOW, MID & HIGH season often do not correlate to RCI's red, white and blue season. Depending on when you want to go, it may not be HIGH season for DVC even if red season for RCI. Summer and Leaf season likely will be HIGH though. Of the 6 resorts listed, only 2 have studios and both of those only allow 2 in the studios. At least 2 or the rest have larger and smaller 1 BR units, you may be able to tell by the fact that the smaller ones will have mini kitchen rather than full kitchens but you may not. There's often a big difference between the 2, esp if you're paying 1 BR exchange costs. Don't forget the $95 exchange fee and that almost all RCI points resorts charge a housekeeping fee for exchanges of less than 7 nights so an extra $50-75 on top of. You could likely rent a week in a studio or smaller 1 BR for $5-600, maybe less.
