Hi all,

have a quick question. If during our check-out day, we are at the pool, does the pool area have a shower to clean up? I'm assuming we will be at the pool past our check-out time so we wont' be able to go back to our room. We are staying at the GF.

It would be located at the fitness center locker room area. I believe they have them at Grand Floridian, maybe someone else knows (?) I know they do at Kidani and Jambo house, as well as Boardwalk Inn. And I don't know if the Fitness Center is open there with all of the covid closures.

When we were at GF in Oct, the building with the changing rooms/showers was closed. Not sure if that has changed since then.

Just left the Riviera on Friday and the shower rooms near the pool were Covid Closed. I know this because we swam on that last day.

what did you end up having to do? Was hotel
Able to provide lake checkout? Or are they not doing that either. We are only on-site for 3 days and our only pool day we can do is our checkout day. Trying to figure out how we can make this work.

how about the spa/gym showers/locker rooms.
Are those open?

The spa is completely closed due to Covid. The gym was open but pretty sure no showers. They are deliberately not permitting communal showers now as a Covid precaution (presumably because it is indoors and you can’t wear a mask), so they just expect guests to do without that amenity for now.

I’ve never asked about a late check out but would be surprised if they allowed it given the need for deep cleaning between guests.

Poolside restrooms are open and you can change there without showering, or you can just do a morning swim, return to the room before check out time to change and shower, and the rest of the day doing something else (disney springs, mini golf). That’s what we did on our check out day last fall at GF.

besides the shower thing how will you travel the wet suits home? that has been our problem with last day pool time precovid

We’ve done this a couple of ways. We either bring a small gym bag with water resistant material, or if we are trying to minimize the number of bags we have (eg if we are on an airline with bag fees) we put them in a couple of plastic bags and stick them in the outer pocket of the suitcase separated from other clothes.

the one time we tried bags and outside pocket the whole case smelled afterwards and had to replace case

Hi, I have done this several times. I try to remove the excess water with a towel or wear them a little while after getting out of a pool ( in the heat they dry relatively well ) then put it beside my dirty laundry ( ie underpants and socks) in a couple of plastic bags ( I have taken the plastic laundry bags from the room a few times) and put it inside my samsonite case. Even after long overnight flights back to the UK from Hawaii/Orlando/Japan, the bag does not smell.

Really? Odd. Have done this for many years since I was a kid and at worse, just have to air out the bag for a while. Then again, I'm not particularly sensitive to the smell of chlorine and wouldn't pay much attention if my bag smelled a bit of chlorine for a while.

The best thing to do (mostly to preserve your swimsuits - letting them sit in chlorine will ruin them quickly) is to rinse the suits out well in the sink, roll and squeeze in a towel, and then transport them home in a plastic bag to rewash and dry. Another idea is to do a more thorough rinse at the poolside outdoor shower (which I will do in a pinch) - this will rinse both your body AND your suit, so win, win.

Or just toss them in a plastic bag and remember to wash and dry upon returning home (I am assuming travel time will be less than 24hrs?). I mean, not much different from my kids going swimming at a friend's house, cramming their wet suits in a bag, and then promptly forgetting about it until the next day when their suspicious mom fishes it out.

Not the best way to preserve suits, but not the end of the world once or twice. I'm a bit more meticulous because I swam 4-5 days a week at our rec centre and quickly got into a routine of rinsing my suits at the sink.

I think most of the pools have an outside shower. You could at least rinse the chlorine off of you with that. I know it's not the same as a real shower. We are going to try to ask for late check-out. I've heard some people have been successful, but only until 12:00.

it was not the chlorine that smelled in the bag. seemed like the outside pocket stuck together front to back after bag was taken out. big zipper area was closed but not the small outside pocket that suit bag was in. we actually had to replace the case

We changed into dry clothes in the poolside restrooms. Left wet towels at towel drop off. Wrung out wet suits as best we could. Put wet suits in Disney bag, placed in bottom of carry on. If everyone took their own suit in their own carry-on it would have been easier. As it was, I took all wet suits in my carry-on, no big deal.

as I said earlier we had to replace a bag because of smell that we could not get out and yes suits were wrung out as best as could and placed in a plastic bag in outside pocket of a carry on. left bag unzipped but when we went to use next time bad mildew smell so we had to replace

We stayed at Riviera and Beach Club last week and did full pool days at each resort. Showers were closed at both pools. We did pool day on checkout day but just had to change into dry travel clothes and make the best of it! :) I took gallon ziploc bags on the trip for this reason and everyone put their individual swimsuit in a ziploc bag for traveling home.

Buy a wet bag - it's a water proof bag that is usually used for backpacking so the items don't get wet in it. It works great for sealing in wet items as well as containing the smell. We have 1 for wet swimsuits and another for wet umbrellas.

If the resort your at offers a laundry room that is also an option to dry clothes
