Using points with cash reservations

Can use of points be combined with cash reservations?

If so, what is the process?

If not, is there an informal process that DVC members have utilized with success?

A single night must be all cash or all points but an entire stay can be mixed. Call MS to make your ressie, they will handle the cash and points parts so the erssie is linked.

Sometimes you even get lucky and can get a member discount.

It depends on the time of year regarding the member discount which is 25%.
I have yet to fail in getting this discount but always travel in value season

Before you make your ressie with MS, call CRO at the 407-WDisney number to check for specials, especially if you have an AP. They often have specials for those expensive Friday-Saturday nights. I have gotten a room several times for a cheaper rate than MS was willing to give it to me. Last Christmas, I got a studio for $179 when MS said they were full AND charging the premium amount of points for each room. sometimes it works like that, it just depends. Disney will soon bring out their fall prices that usually go thru Dec. 24--if you check in on the 24th and stay into the premium season, they will give you the room for the cheap price for your whole stay, if they have availability.
