Hello,

Sorry, searched, did not find much. Has anyone used DVC points at any of the Disneyland resorts hotel (e.g. GC, DH, PP)? If so, what is the typical point per night for a standard room that sleeps 4? Please describe the breakdown if you remember or know (e.g. Sun-Thurs, which DL hotel, I assume that the time of year takes more points).

Also, what there any additonal charge to use DVC points for any DL resort hotel? That said, is it more worthwhile to just look for discounts and keep points for WDW DVC stays.

Thanks, ;)

Yes, it is a better value to use your points within the DVC system. AT the moment there is no additonal charge to use points at a Disneyland hotel, but that may change once the DVC Villas open there, as there is a $95 charge to use points at a regular WDW resort holtel.

Non-concierge points at DL hotels range from 17 points per night at Paradise Pier to 63 points per night at the Grand Californian, depending upon season and view.

If you are aa member already then you can get a chart online. If you want to become a member then you might want to wait till they start selling the Disneyland resort so that way you will be able to book 11 month out.
We are staying on points this June (2 nights DLH 1 night GC and 2 nights in PP).

Hi,

Thanks for the speedy replys!

We are in the process of becoming members at BCV - 75 pts total with December UY . We just passed ROFR last week. We are buying a "stripped" resale with 12 points that from 12/07 and 14 points coming in 12/08.

We are just hoping to pool those two years points together (if possible) to get a night stay at a DL resort hotel. We live nearby - 1 hour or so south of DL.

And in the future, use the full years (bank/borrow) at BCVs during late '2010 or mid 2011. We will probably go every two years to WDW.... unless we buy more points.... which I hope will happen!!!

Thanks,

I just used points to stay at GCV for 2 nights - DCA view. It is currently consider value season. Since there isn't a $95 fee to book etc. it was a better value to me to do this than to pay cash. Assuming rental price of $12/pt I could not have done better. I did pay cash for 1 night at Paradise Pier and tried concierge - city/pool view. It also would have worked out better monetarily for me to use points - by a little when you consider tax and resort fees that you do not pay on points, but there were no rooms available for point use.

Of course if you are able to get discounts on room or AAA etc. then you will need to work the numbers yourself. For the number of points you have - then yes, you can get 1 nights stay at any of the resorts during any of the seasons. It may also bee a good chance to try and upgrade room. :thumbsup2 Myself - I'd do it since you will have so few points and can drive to DL. Going to FL to use your points would be a tad more expensive IMO! :rotfl: Until GCV opens I will continue to consider this a good use of points living on the West Coast. ::yes::

Thank you! I was hoping for something like this DVC DL Point Chart (2008) so I knew the exact point cost for this year.

Since I will only have about 26 points, I think this is a viable option until we get more points banked and head to WDW in 2011. I know... and agree... it is like a long time away, but my DD just turned 2 so we hope by then she will be able to enjoy more of what WDW has to offer.

Thank you again for all the responses so far... and those to come!

You're very welcome! If you're looking for points charts for DL or anywhere else in the future, the DVC member website has them (you just have to sign in first).

Congrats of the ROFR!! We just became members last year the same way. We bought 70 points OKW. This will actually be our first trip on points. I like to jut look at Disney's site to base my savings off of. This trip disney = 1560 and my dues were around 300. I saved 1360. That payed for the airline tickets.

I stayed at PP at the end of April, DCA view, 20 points per night Sun-Thurs. I thought it was a good value, rack rate was about $200 plus tax. I cancelled a stay at BWV for the same time, I decided to go to DL instead.

I'm staying at the GCH next Friday night, it cost me 39 points for a standard room, rack rate is over $400 plus tax. I had some extra points left for this year, so I figured I would use them rather than bank.

You don't have to pay the resort fee on a points stay ($11 per night?).

I stayed at PP August 2007 - check in Sun and out on Thurs - for 112 points. I may have rethought the all points plan if we had a weekend stay included but it just depends on your preference and point availability.
