We are probably going to get to go twice this year to Disney and I want to upgrade our tickets to AP while we're there. We are going to do a split stay and have added the dining plan to our first resort stay with our MYW tickets. Here's my question - once I upgrade to the AP ( this will happen at our second resort stay, during our split stay ) can I buy the dining plan at the same time ? ;)

You can change it now. You don't need to have an AP already purchased to book a passholder + dine package. The only issue is if you have a pin code or bounceback discount on your second ressie, you have to buy a one day ticket in order to get the discount. Only AP discounts can be combined with AP + dining. And since the second ressie is room only, it now will need to be converted to a package, as the AP room + dining is indeed a package, albeit a ticketless one. Lots of people thing they are adding dining to a room only ressie, which can't be done. It is indeed a package, meaning the deposit is $200 then the balance is due 45 days prior to check in. HTH. :goodvibes

I called this morning and changed our room only reservation to a package. I added 1 day tickets and the dining plan . Now, can I use both my 1 day ticket and my 9 day tickets toward an AP ? The nice CM I spoke to said he didn't think so. If not, I could just hold onto them til next year and use them toward a renewal on our APs ?

No you can't... but you can upgrade your 9 day tickets when you check in on the first half of your trip to the AP (you get the full value of the ticket applied to the AP, do it on the first day). Then, you have the AP + dining on the second half of your trip, because you will have your AP in hand from the first half of the trip.

Clear as mud? ;)

I would do as marcielm suggested and book the passholder + dine package for the second reservation. You can't use 2 tickets to upgrade to 1 AP (although I'm sure someone will come along and say they were allowed to, so I'll admit that very nice CM's may on occaison do it, but the policy is one to one for upgrades), so rather than buy a 1 day ticket you don't need, change the second reservation to an AP ticketless dining package.

There aren't any rooms available with the AP rate that I want. The CM said the only way go book the dining plan with AP is to get an AP room rate. Does this sound right ? Thanks

No, call back and talk to another CM. For my upcoming May trip I originally booked a room at rack rate at PORS, told the CM I had an AP, and wanted to add the DDP. It was no problem.

I later moved my ressie over to CSR and switched to an AP rate with the DDP. I then changed my mind again and decided to to do a split stay AKL with the DxDDP for four nights, followed with CSR with the basic DDP for four nights. None of my ressies had park tickets. They were AP ticketless pkgs with the DDP (even my original PORS rack rate ressie).
