Using other resort pools...yay or nay?

The wife and I just made reservations for our first stay on-site at Pop Century in September! We're really excited! Anyway, does anyone know if you can "pool-hop" from resort to resort if you are a resort guest? I wouldn't think you could, but I thought I'd ask anyway (no dumb questions, right?). We always thought it would be so much fun to hang out at the pool at the Yacht & Beach club.

Thanks for your help!

Ack! A pool hopping thread!
WDWHound panics and dives for cover before the battle begins.

Actually, pool hoping is not allowed, and Storm Along Bay (the Yacht and Beach Club pool) is problably the place where this is most strictly enforced.

Big ol' NAY.

The people at the Yacht and Beach Club are paying Yacht and Beach Club prices. So, they get the cool pool. If you could pay Pop Century prices and swim at the Yacht and Beach Club, what would be the point of staying someplace more expensive? In short, you get what you pay for - and you are paying for Pop Century.

However, feel free to hang out at the Yacht and Beach Club restaurants and gift shops! :sunny:

An innocent enough question especially if you have never stayed onsite. (I was looking up Unversal Studios stuff for a friend today and was completely clueless-I've never been). So you are right, it never hurts to ask. Be prepared though, you'll get some friendly answers, some not so friendly answers and maybe (but hopefully not) some down right rude answers from the holier than thou crowd to your pool hopping question.

In any event, I hope you have a great trip. We'll be staying at the Pop for a night for the first time coming up in less than two weeks and I'm pretty excited (I think I'm more excited about the Pop than the Wilderness Lodge Villas will be moving to for the last 4 days of our trip).

Take care!

Not trying to sound like an elitist but us DVC members do have pool hopping privileges when staying at DVC resorts, with the exception of SAB and WL.

Here is another "not allowed" on the pool hopping but keep in mind that the water parks are alot of fun and in September they are not extremely crowded.

I was unaware of that. I thought DVCers had lost those privilages. Thanks for correcting me.

How is this rule enforced??? Are there "pool police"???
Yup, and most of them post around here.

This has been pretty civil, though. But if you really want to see the Disney fur fly, ask about bringing old refillable mugs from home to reuse. That's always good for 20-25 pages of pure venom.

In a sense, yes. They frequently have castmembers stationed at the entrances to the pool checking for room keys.

Innocent question, but no, youre not allowed to pool hop at Disney. You get what you pay for.

At Universal, you are BUT they only have 3 hotels and they are all in the same "league" as far as amenities, cost, etc. So it's not like you're paying for Pop and swimming at the Yacht =)

And for maximum fur, ask about pool hooping after sneeking a 5th person in your room with a 5 year old refillable mug from another resort in your hand. Just be sure your health insurance is paid up first. :teeth:

No, really. It was a perfectly valid question, There was no way you could know about the past history of this topic.

Actually DVC members can pool hop Most of the time except for SAB and AKL.

Some of the responses are funny, especially the ones about the extra person and old mug usuage. Thanks for the laugh!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

AW! I always enjoy a GOOD OL' pool hopping thread!

It's been at least a week since we had a real-heated one too!;)
BTW....they do check the IDs at SAB, when we were there two weeks ago.

But, we did use our mugs from our last BC CL trip in March!
Still had the cellophane wrapping on them!:earseek:

Have fun!

I don't actually take my refillable mug home--I bury it in a Memory Box somewhere around WL. And when I want to use it, I dig it up and go over to the Poly, fill it, and score a hammock on the beach to watch the fireworks.::yes:: :jester:

I had asked a pool hopping question before...I made out with some good info and advice :D

We are staying at the POP too but I have a day where my DD4 is going to be at te GF for a few hours. She is doing the Pirate Cruise in the am and the Wonderland tea in the afternoon. She'll have about an hour in between the two and I thought it would be fun to swim for a bit. Well, I am glad I had asked because I would have shown up all decked out to swim looking like the biggest dorks! Glad to have saved myself the embarassment and disappointment of being turned away.

Better to ask then look like a dork  !

an earlier reply has me asking this question
Is pool hopping to the WL allowed?

Regarding WL...

Poolhopping of any kind to any resort is not allowed for non-DVC guests.

THIS THREAD HAS BEEN DEEMED UNSUITABLE FOR EVERYONE PERSON --- DO NOT REPLY FOR THE WELL-BEING OF EVERYONE :) -- END OF WARNING
