Using old magic bands

So I'm just trying to decide what colour band to order for my next trip, but I've just noticed this little message written above my old magic bands "All your MagicBands and cards can be used interchangeably as long as they're active."

So does this mean I can switch between my old pink one and my new one I'm going to order? Or is that band no longer "active"?

I have 3 bands that I switch for my trips. I've just got 2 more to add to my collection. I've never had any issues using them interchangeably.

My husband likes his red band from last year, and doesn't want to get a new one. Does hotel registration need to 'do' anything to his old band, to reflect the upcoming reservation? If I just order him another red one, (to use as a spare), can he use either of t hem, or does registration again need to update the old band to reflect the new reservation?

I've had the resort double check to make sure my bands would open the door but, if your reservation is associated with the account with the bands, it should just work for both. But checking at check in may save a little disappointment!

Nothing is stored on the bands. The only thing that the magic bands do is link to your DME account.
