Using Nursery During Excursions?

We’re cruising 8/15-8/18. On 8/17, we’ll be at Castaway Cay. I currently have my whole family booked for the glass bottom boat voyage at 9:45, and then the oldest 5 parasailing from 12:30-2:30. I booked the nursery for the baby (from 12-4) while we parasail, but my husband thinks it may be more hassle than it’s worth to get her back to the nursery and then go pick her up. How difficult will it be to get from the island to the nursery and back? What do you think? This is our first cruise!

The dock the excursion boats use is almost right next to the pier the ship docks on. Then you just have to wait to get back on, get up to the nursery, and back off the ship depending on crowds.

As long as you have at least 45 minutes between the glass bottom boat excursion ending and the nursery slot beginning, you should be fine. You'll just need to walk back to the ship and go through security to reboard, then walk through security to disembark. Most people will line up to leave the ship shortly after the ship docks in the morning, and the rush to reboard won't start until late afternoon, so getting on and off between 10 am and 3:30 pm should be quick.

Personally, I would not feel comfortable leaving our child on the boat while we were on land. Probably overly cautious, but just something to consider.

In any other port I'd agree, but this is on Castaway. They ensure everyone is off the island and back on the ship, and it should be easy to find you - especially if they check your account for excursions.

That said, in my experience from watching the signs, parasailing is one of the most commonly cancelled excursions - especially in the afternoon as winds often pick up, so it may be a moot point.

They are not going to leave you on Castaway Cay so it’s really no different than using the nursery while your on the ship.

Now in a regular port of call I agree 100%. I can’t imagine what would happen if you somehow missed the ship and your infant was on board without you!
