Hi everyone;

I just downloaded the Nook app to my DH's Samsung Galaxy S3 so that he can read the new Stephen King book. Thought he would be able to download the book to the phone and read offline, but it seems like he has to be signed into my B&N account before he can read. That just seems weird -- every time he goes to sign out of the account it tells him the content will be deleted I don't understand that -- why doesn't the content stay on his phone? Got any answers???:confused3

Yes, you have to remain signed in. Even if you're not connected to the internet you have to be signed into the account to read the content.

This is something that both B&N and Amazon have implemented with their ereaders, android apps and ios apps within the last year or so. It is to keep people from sharing books with everyone they know.

It use to be you could log someone onto your account, transfer the book and then log them out and the book would still be there for them. Now, you have to trust the person enough to keep them signed onto your account before you can share with them.

Get the Calibre e-Book conversion app and the plugins. It is wonderful! :love: I hesitated to get it for the longest time as it sounds like so much work to use. Once I downloaded it, I wondered why I waited so long.

Calibre is an eBook format conversion tool. I use it to convert all my eBooks from EPUB or Kindle/mobi to the PDF format as I prefer to read eBooks off my PDF app. (I like to scroll pages rather than click a button to "turn" to the next page.)

You can convert any format into one of the other formats. In doing so, you strip the eBook of it's DRM which is what dedicates it to the one eReader you bought it for. This way your DS can read the eBook without having to constantly sign back in as it will be rendered a generic eBook file. I think you can just convert it from a Nook EPUB file to a generic EPUB file with the DRm removed and read it on the Nook. Otherwise, convert it to a PDF file and download a PDF app for the Samsung and read it on that.

Once you strip it of the DRM, please do not make copies and distribute them. That is not the intention the tool & plugins were created for. This is just so your DS can more conveniently read the book in the privacy of your home - or on the privacy of his cellphone. always keep a copy of your original eBook in the Nook format with the DRM intact.
